Better DS3 is for shocker. DS3
also mods are pretty much a no go with DS2 as it gets you a softban if you are caught....
And how is playing with a controller modding? Besides... how would I "get caught"? I'm not getting an advantage or changing anything... the game doesn't work with my controller and I'm trying to fix that... if that's considered modding, god help us all.
1. Make the game think you are playing using kb/mouse.
2. Block the game from auto assigning keys.
There's a program called x360ce which can do both. BUT i won't suggest as it "modifies" game files and may lead to softban(bamco said themselves).
I use a 100% safe software called "xpadder". It is made to operate pc using any gamepad. So you can assign keyboard keys to controller buttons.
Unfortunately it can't hook the controller and game will assign buttons and the controls will clash.
Solution is simple, connect your gamepad after loading your character.
Run xpadder>run game, load char>connect controller and play.
Well - we're on the right track!
The program worked just the way you described, but there's a different issue now - or more like the same that din't go away.
Those wonky controls that the game chose for whatever reason are still there, sort of "under" the ones set by Xpadder. Like when I press R2 it does a strong attack, coz I assigned it to the strong attack button on the keyboard with Xpaadder, but then it ALSO opens the menu, like it did before. And the right stick controls the camera coz I assigned it to the mouse movements in xpadder, but it also makes me attack all over the place like it did before.
So... is there any way to disable DS2 from recognizing a controller? Or block it from receiving its inputs? Because the way I understand it, the game now sees two simultaneous inputs - one from the controller (actual controller) and one from a keyboard (from the controller with xpadder masking it as a keyboard)
We're on the right track though :D
Any ideas?
Ok, thought that powering off my controller and then turning it back on would suffice, but it turns out I have to pull out the USB receiver and then put it back in.
Works fine now, and fixed a couple other problems I had with other games as well.
Thanks a lot!
and the xpadder solution does help, but I'm expanding the issue now
the issue is:
The game automatically sets a configuration of buttons when it detects a controller, that clashes with any configuration you can give through Steam Big Picture.
The solution is tricking the game into believing you're using keyboard/mouse by using xpadder or something similar
the solution given a few comments above to avoid the game detecting and using a configuration for the controller is: plug your controller AFTER loading your character
Now, my question: anyone else has the game recognize a controller anyways after some minutes?
was that your question?
That should make it so R2 isnt the menu ect anymore, Whatever you have mapped in the non big picture mode: Steam, settings, controller, general controller settings, button layout should then work once you do what I said tin the first paragraph.
A note if you try my method make sure you don't have any xinput dlls in your installation folder from using any controller emulator like x360ce ect, and make sure your not using any software that's changing button configs like xpadder.
