It drops from the axe-wielding Gyrm Warriors as well.
Other heavy weapons don't usually have a combo-able moveset. This one has the potential to hit twice when one handed, and four times when two handed. provided you don't knock your opponent out of range with the first hit.
It's also got a great AR. I've been able to chain four hits with the 2h r1s on players and they're usually dead. Backstab damage? Pretty much the same as the Gyrm Greathammer.
Then again, everyone has their own weapon. I hate the claymore and Mastodon greatsword, they do trash damage even though they have high AR.
Also, the smelter hammer. I've got 50 strength but I can't two hand it. 50 x 1.5 = 75.
The required strength is 70.
Wat.
Yeah vs somebody decent with a longsword... you'll have a hard time using any of the short greataxes.
I've been stunlocking people today.
Today.
Gyrms has the highest AR and reach (And scaling!) of the short Greataxes, all while sharing the same swing speed. The only difference is stat investment.
I tested it extensively before. No patch has edited stunlocks since the one from vanilla that saved PvP lol. I'm available soon in about 20 mins to test if you wish, I'll be the test dummy. because my guess is that people aren't mashing roll or there's too much latency.
Unless you're speedhacking (I actually met a couple of dudes who were speedhacking and they pulled of 5-R1-combos with Axes) which probably isn't the case.
And yeah, people with good spacing will ruin your day. They don't even need a Longsword, a longer GAxe like the Drakekeeper's is already enough.
I've now got a Smelter Hammer build with 70 str and a buckler.
Wish me luck.
Or turtle/Jester's Armor.
Trust me, you'll need it.
Will do. This hammer is great though, I skipped smelter and cleared through iron keep just using the first bonfire. 2k+ backstab damage, This thing must have some scary riposte damage.
