Can we agree that earthen peak is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥?
It's okay if we can.

it is a cool area have to admit but then many of them are kinda cool. but Earthen Peak is a damn annoying one. it all depends on a knowledge of a location layout and ambushes and traps yes. BUT it also depends on your build. I had lots of trouble first time around because my build wasn't optimized and combo of 2 manikins were obliterating me time after time. it was first time there ever yes. it gets better with each time but it's still really annoying.

IMO black gulch is much easier and you get used to it faster,
few tricks up your sleeve and it's a breeze.
Iron Keep? same ♥♥♥♥, get used to it and take it slow, eliminating one by one. not that hard and it's later in the game. and you also can postpone it even more if you're feeling weak and go do other stuff.
Shrine of Amana? snipe your way through, mostly nothing tough. I only had troubles with pyro guys. they're still optional
I mean cmon manikins are probably the worst and most annoying packs of enemies. at least for their place in game progression

Look, I know people ♥♥♥♥♥ about textures and what not, but it's not like you sit there for hours jerking off to the brick textures. Who gives a ♥♥♥♥ if a texture is repeating. That's what textures are supposed to do. Shut the ♥♥♥♥ up about it. Do you really load up dark souls 2 so you can use the binoculars at point blank to look at some fake digital bricks? Because if that's true, then what a lonely, pathetic, sad, and completely trivial existance you lead.

Hey sorry I didn't see your post and I can understand you are not constantly looking at textures but my point is when they put up the walls at least they could have randomized each square of bricks in each row.

When I go through areas of a game it's nice to not have your immersion broken by just cheap, get it done as fast as possible, no effort work if you played dark souls and been to the depths another place with brick walls you don't see constantly repeating textures and you feel like your in a sewer earthen peak just feels like a level in a game nothing unique or interesting about it.

You should try to calm down when you respond too I don't feel like what I originally said should have made anybody as mad as you seem if anyone has a sorry life it it's you, responding to a individuals opinion in such a immature manner.

Have a nice day.

In my first playthrough hated all the areas you guyz mentioned, probably in this order:
Iron Passage < The Gutter+The Gulch < Shrine of Amana
Mainly because i wanted to explorer everything and grab every item i could get and sometimes died to many times just to achieve that.
Shrine steals the cake for me because of our necessity to adapt our play style to the situation, for me was to start sniping the mages (never touched a bow till this area) and sometimes ppl dont like that, and start confusing adaptation with frustration. An area witch mixes hard hiting knights, with pesky ranged sorcerers in a small area with clifs and full off water.... daammm...

Amana is a bloody shooter-on-rails sequence on an action RPG, end of story. If you have built your toon as a caster you're golden. If you haven't, you'd better prepare for one of the most boring segments ever added to a videogame.
*BORING*. Not challenging. Amana tests your patience, not your skill.
Black Gulch and Shrine of Amana have my vote for the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ worst levels to play in.

Agree with you there.

I actually didn't hate Black Gulch. I hated those poison statues, though. My only death there was from dying from the fire in the area boss's arena. I wondered what it did, so don't get curious I guess. Shrine of Amana is a completely different story.

Well yeah, by gulch I meant the stupid poison statues lining the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ area.

Shrine of Amana sucks because of the sheer amount of Jesus-Christ-stop-ganking-me mages and Arxhdragon priests. OH AND FHE CAVERN WITH THE ACID BUGS. Genius. Pure genius.

Worst areas IMO

1 : Old Iron King DLC

2 : Black Gulch

At least Amana looks pleasing to the eyes.

I actually liked the Ivory King area. Loyce was a cool area.

It's not that the area itself is bad. I like it.

It's a select few parts that make it AWFUL.

1 : The bossfights, especially the final one and challenge route one without all the loyce knights

2 : The outskirts

3 : The area between the first and second bonfire

well.. still better than the gulch or shrine of amara... nothing is as bad as the shrine of amara. ♥♥♥♥ this place directly befor the boss. 5 knights ,with Aoe swings, that are unstaggerable while it throws an NPC invader at you and a horde of mages shoots you with homing speels. And i thought that after all the mages between the first and second bonfire it only could become better.... DS2 often has a problem with making up STUPID situations that are not challenging but just an annoyance but this place was one of the worst parts.
