Installing GeDoSato/Nexus Vortex
Hi all, looking for some help with the link the Vortex manager sends you to to download GeDoSato - I get a warning about an "unhandled exception in the application". What's the best workaround for this?

And a quick follow-up question: how does one actually get the Nexus installer to recognize and interact with the DS2 game file from Steam? I know, newbie question, but I'm an idiot with this stuff. Thanks!

GeDoSaTo is only used for games using DirectX 9, like the original Dark Souls II. For the SotFS DirectX11 version, use iGP11:

https://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls3/mods/28?

Texture mods, made for the original/GeDoSaTo aren't compatible by default with iGP11 and have to be formatted (i believe, that it's a matter of re-naming the modded texture-file, but it's a hassle figuring it out, without extracting the game files).
So it's best just to stick to texture mods made for iGP11, if you're new to modding.

Make sure to always read the descriptions of mods on the DS2 nexus, since it's used for both the original and Scholar of the First Sin version, even though no mods are compatible between the two, so it's easy to get confused.

Texture-injectors like this are fine and won't cause softbans. Same for optimization tools, like "ReShade", "Flawless Widescreen" or "Special K". I'm using RivaTuner for 10 years now without issues myself and similarly to all the tools, i've just mentioned, it also "hacks" into the DirectX API for it's on-screen display.
