Ornifex died in The Shaded Woods
Should I start over? I'm pretty keen on getting some of those boss weapons.

Some boss weapons are sold by Straid.
And you can alwyas trade with Ornifex on NG+

Can she still be petrified by the Basilisks? Iirc that could happen in the original if you opened the door before killing them (and even sometimes through the door).

Most of the NPCs leave a tombstone. DId you go back into the room she died in and look for one? If you pray at the tombstone and pay the fee her spirit will show up. Then you can do whatever you need then.

I killed the old hags in the beginning for their human effigys not realizing that one does the respec for you. Ive done the praying at tombstone 2x now with her. i also killed the scorpion man and did it with him too to get his quest stuff.

Not 100% sure Ornifex will work. I saw somewhere on the net a guy took the time to figure out all of the NPCs that it works on. Most were listed. I cant seem to find the page now.

The tombstone will be near the spot where they died at.

i dont think ornifex comes back. and i know she dies VERY easily. if she takes ANY damage she dies. its important to clear the areas aroundher well before you talk to her.

Just found this on Steam. I also found some posts online, it looks like she will have a tombstone!

Should be a tombstone where she died, you can revive her for 11k souls. Although it's unclear how long it takes to appear, and some people are reporting it might not even appear at all.

The only way you are screwed is if you never talked to her in the first place. Not exactly sure what they mean by that, only that you are definetely safe if you talked to her. Check that room she is in at her last place. The cove.
