Creating A Toxin/Poison Build
Hey i'm wanting to focus on creating an toxic or poison build for primarily farming souls, Any stats i should focus on to get my target poisoned in less hits? I currently take 4 poison arrows or about 7 hits from a poison rapier to get them to start lose health

Poison BNS can be granted by both Dexterity/Adaptability, Dexterity itself will give you bonuses much sooner than Adaptability.

Dexterity gives Poison BNS at a rate of 0.75x per level
Adaptability gives Poison BNS at a rate of 0.25x per level

You should strive to reach 40 Dexterity and 15/20/24 for ADP, depends if you want 92/96/99 agility, which you can optimize on your own.

Other weapons are certainly better at proccing poison, Pate's Spear for instance is a popular choice.

Poison Arrows have a flat 300 Poison Aux and as far as I'm aware, this aux can't be boosted.

Make good use of Dung Pies (Rat King sells them), as they will inflict toxic on enemies and will only inflict poison on you if it procs.

I'd actually go for 105 Agility if possible. 99 should really be the minimum, considering how little stats it costs to get there and how much you'll get in return. ATTN also gives a little bit of Agility, so keep that in mind if you really wanna min/max.

Some more poison pointers in additional to the post above:
  • Sanctum Soldier Gauntlets and Crest of the Rat add poison damage to weapons that have poison on them (infused or innate). Similar to Clutch-rings, the added damage is more on weapons, that are both poison-infused and have innate poison damage
  • Poison-infused Manslayer retains most of it's AR and Ring of Blades scaling. With RoB/Flynn's and it's 150 counter, it applies poison well and still deals good physical damage
  • Poison-infused Spotted Whip is the weapon with the most poison build-up on a single hit (with 2 powerstanced, you could potentially do over 1k poison damage with a single L1)
  • Multi-hit weapons are good at applying poison, such as Pate's Spear/Pike/G.Lance running attacks or the Channeler's Trident 1HR2 and roll attacks (drains 10 durability)
  • For some reason, the Heide Knight Sword gets a lot of poison damage from infusing it with poison (great meme potential)
  • Be careful when using the Butterfly-set, since it's passive poison build-up can aggro nearby friendly NPCs
  • Gavlaan is an unlimited source of Poison Arrows and Poison Knives, once he moves to Doors of Pharros
  • There are only 3 ways of applying toxic as a player: Toxic Mist, Dung Pies and Mytha's Bent Blade
  • The Dark Fog hex can be a nice and efficient way of cheesing poison at a distance. It's like Poison Mist, but with more range. It can also be aimed using Binoculars (nothing affects poison build-up on spells)

Hope this helps. :blight:

Yeah but it is a beast for poison build up for some reason
I'm currently working on a poison build video right now and it takes around 3 hits with heide sword to poison most people.

Any idea where to find it? heide tower only?

Yep, unlike vanilla ds2 where it was a guaranteed drop from the heide knight in fofg, in sotfs you gotta farm it from the ones wielding it in heides tower of flame.

any tips on increasing discovery? i've got two pieces im using from the jester set
JellyPuff Nov 21, 2021 @ 10:23am
Poison-infused Manslayer does comparable poison build-up to Heide Knight Sword (even more with Sanctum Gauntlets+Crest of the Rat, because it has innate poison) but with about twice the physical damage and that's not even factoring in it's high counter-damage, which is busted in DS2. Though you can't get it nearly as early, since it's at the end of Shrine of Amana and somewhat hidden.

honestly these stone soldiers's immunity is highly irritating lol, poison weapons are pretty cool

There are two shields that help with discovery. And the ring of course.

I wish there was a toxin or poison bow though but seems bows can't be infused with poison

you can try defeating gargoyle at belfry to get the golden ring
very important

I farmed heide full set, immediately after leaving things brexit, joined CoC simply to make enemies unlimited, WITHOUT discovery items, since I made an oath not to move from this bonfire unless I had whole set
.
.
.
i was SL 86 when I got full set

bloody heck

If you want full item discovery, you will need:

- Jester's Hat (sold by Magerold) or Symbol of Avarice (found in a frozen chest in Eleum Loyce)
- Prisoner's Tatters Torso (drops from raggedy hollow dudes)
- Watchdragon Parma (dropped by the dragon in Heide)
- Covetous Gold Serpent Ring +2 (drop from Belfry Gargoyles on bonfire intensity 2+)
- Rusted Coin (lasts for a few minutes, does not stack with itself)
