Old Mace Knight
Could anyone give me some tips on the old mace knight at Heide tower? I can beat the sword knight fairly easily, but the mace knights attack patterns just throw me off for some reason. So any tips would be nice pls ;-;

Idk if I could explain how to fight him right, but my main tip is to always to wait out his third attack on his three-hit combo. He'll do one swing at a regular speed, then a slightly slower swing, but then he'll slowly windup a big third hit. When he does that just unlock and walk in the opposite direction. Also a medium shield with at least 90% physical block is very helpful against mace knights like him. Just don't let your stamina get depleted while blocking his attacks. Only block one of his attacks at most if you have to block them. Even if you don't upgrade it the default mace that you can buy from Blacksmith Lenigrast in Majula can stagger those Old Knights with enough hits.

(1) Get behind the Mace knight. If your Adaptability is at least 9, you should be able to roll through the first swing and position yourself behind him. Or wait for him to start doing the first swing and run behind him. Wait for him to finish his combo and get in 1 or 2 hits.

(2) Light Crossbow and bolts. Or Short Bow and arrows.

(3) Summon Masterless Glencour for jolly co-operation.

The Old Knight with a mace has the following attacks:

1. Two standard swipes followed by a 360 degree sweep. The first two attacks can be avoided simply enough, but the third attack requires that you roll through it no matter what angle you're coming at the Old Knight from. Adjust your timing accordingly.
This is the hardest attack to deal with.

2. A single overhead slam with massive windup. You can just walk to the Old Knight's side during the windup and get free hits.

3. Two overhead slams. This is less free than the single overhead slam, but you can still dodge or sidestep to the Old Knight's rear to avoid this.

The Old Knight's attacks also deal very poor amounts of stamina damage; if you have a 100% block shield of any sort, they become completely harmless.

Get any mace - max to +2-3 - bait him for swings - hit 3 times.

Wait till you get to the black one.

Get a high damage reduction shield and an upgraded strike weapon. Alternatively, I found that an upgraded fire longsword you get in Forest of the Fallen Giants makes very short work of them.

You can literally just walk around them in a circle, then you just roll occasionally, you got this, besides the drakekeepers are somewhat worse.
