No-man Wharf, how do I light it?
OK, so I've just got here via killing 3 bosses: the dragon, fatty and thinny and now I'm at the pier with all the gloom. The problem is, I have no idea how to light the place and it gives me a headache. Anyone know where I can find the nearest place to light the torch? I believe I've picked up torch, but I can't find it in my inventory, assuming it works like Dark Soul 1 and 3.

Stand close to any lit bonfore, and it should say "swap action." Press that button, then press accept and you will light the torch. Check your torch's timer in your weapons screen.

Additionally, if you find a Pharros Contraption somewhere in No Man's Wharf, it will light the whole place up. (assuming you have a lockstone.)

What no one's mentioned yet is that there are other ways to light your torch. It doesn't have to be done at a bonfire. You can light a torch at any lit torch sconce you previously lit. This makes it easier to light all of the torches in an area like No Man's Wharf or Things Betwixt. You can also use an item called Flame Butterfly. It will light your torch regardless of where you're at.

The Phaross Contraption mentioned by Harrison does light up a significant portion of the area and will send the monsters that are afraid of light into hiding. But it doesn't count as lighting the torch sconces in the area so if you're out to trigger that event you have to light them by hand.

The torch can be a hindrance in certain areas though. If you're doused in tar/oil it can ignite you. Certain NPCs will attack you for having light. etc.

All excellent points, too
