PS4 Controller not working!
I have been bashing my head against the wall with this problem for awhile now, so hopefully someone can help me out. Simply put, my PS4 Controller is not working for Dark Souls II (or Dark Souls, for that matter).

My PS4 controller works on pretty much everything else I've tried. Games include:
• Spelunky 2
• Dark Souls III
• Emulators on my Computer (VBA, Cemu, PCSX2, etc.)

The controller always works in Big Picture mode, even with "PS4 Support" turned off. I have been Googling and reading different pages for hours; problems I find that are similar to mine are able to be solved, but their solutions do not work for me. I've tried all the steps I've been reading about, including:

• using/tweaking DS4Windows (which I use to play BotW on Cemu for motion controls)
• removing DS4 Windows from my PC
• Checking/unchecking pretty much every option in General Controller Settings as well as the ones specific to Dark Souls II
• Removing HID Drivers from my computer
• Reinstalling/reconnecting my controller's BT Connection (native support functionality for my PC)

The biggest, most frustrating part is that the controller is working for Dark Souls III (not to mention other Steam/non-Steam games), but not the 1st or 2nd games. It's driving me insane. The most responsiveness I can manage with my Controller is getting the track-pad to work as a mouse-pad using DS4Windows... but I tend not to use those input-mapping programs unless absolutely needed. And with the recent updates to DS4Windows, none of the support/solutions that reference the program are up to date with the current version.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? I've tried to contact Steam for support, but this doesn't appear to be possible, aside from posting in this forum. If anyone has any solutions, or any other places I could reach out to for assistance, I would be very grateful!

i just went through the headache of getting my nintendo switch controller to work when it was already working with everything else.

the only thing i can say is that i have a lot of controllers hooked up and had to shut them all down and just have kB&m and the switch controller. if you have anything else connected then disable it.

besides that when i was googling about getting it to work i did see some trouble shooting stuff for ps4 controllers so you might get lucky with that.

the first time i loaded up dark souls 2 i spent 5 hrs just trying to troubleshoot my controller issues..

dark souls 1 paradox 0 from the jump

good luck

I don't have anything else hooked up, really, besides my Bluetooth mouse. Thank you for the input, though!

Most of that stuff that Google suggests are things I've already tried, and laid out above. Seems to me I have some sort of freak issue on my hands lol

I fixed ps4 controller support on my end. Left click on the game and click on "properties" Once your at properties click on controllers and enable steam input. Doing that fixed the input and audio issues that i had with the game.

I have done this already, with no luck. Input is enabled by default on my end, and disabling/re-enabling has no effect.
im still having trouble trying to get my controller to work on the game, but i tried the enable steam input, and i tried ds4windows exclusively and still my controller does not want to work.
Ok, so this is what i did: I had the same problem, PS4 Controller that works on every game without any program, but for DS2 and DS2 SOTFS doesn't. I first downloaded DS4Windows, but it still didn't work. THE SOLUTION: If you right-click to the game on your library of Steam, select Properties-Controller. What you need to do now is activate the Steam Input, and right below the window of activation, it will show the status of the controller. What you need to do now is run DS4Windows (so the PC thinks that you conected a Xbox360 when you conected a PS4 controller), plug the PS4 controller, and in the Activate Input window it should show that there's a Xbox360 controller detected (by showing a blue dot on the status), and then finally run DS2. That's how it worked for me, hope is useful for y'all :)

Never had any issues with my ps4 controller in this game. This might sound dumb but have you tried plugging the controller in with a wire?

Which support did you contact, FromSoft? I can't find any way to get in touch with Steam Support

That is another program similar to DS4Windows, correct? I have heard that it is mostly obsolete these days, but I suppose it is worth a try!
