Is Dark Souls 2 as bad as people say it is?
If someone can give me a brief pro's and con's or if they choose to elaborate than please do.

the people usually saying that the game is bad seem to be the people who are upset that it wasn't made/directed by the man who directed the other 2 dark souls games. From my experience (i have played all three of the Dark souls games) Dark Souls 2 SOTFS is not hugely different to the other dark souls games. There are of course differences but it is still a dark souls games. When comparing between the Dark souls games it is hard to say what is a pro and what is a con because some of the differences are personal preference. For example i prefer the rolling on Dark souls 2 the most. But of course i can try to create some pros and cons.

Pros:
- Easier than the other dark souls (highly subjective reasons of what is easy and what is hard makes this hard to conclude as either a pro or a con and even as a reason for that matter)
- Some of the best DLC bosses of the Dark Souls series (I've heard this has been said I personally love the DLC bosses on this game.)
- Initial non linear gameplay style (you aren't forced to fight the last giant as a first boss for example)

Cons:
- Easier than other dark souls (again highly subjective reasons and could be seen as a bad thing too)
- your ability to rolling is tied to ADP which you need to level up to make it better
- Health is removed after every death which is arguably one of the most annoying features of this game.

These are my personal thoughts at the end of the day and what I have said is from what I have experience and what I have seen.

Don't expect any objective answers, unless we're talking technical aspects, in which case: It runs at at 60FPS and is well optimized, so it runs even on very low end hardware, but it's still kind of a sh*t PC port. Poor KB/M support, no ultrawide support and a 60FPS lock to name a few issues.

As far as gameplay goes, i think it's the best mechanically.

Pros:
• Dual Wielding is not only a viable way of playing, it's encouraged with the powestance-mechanic
• Twinblades are a fun weapon class unique to this game
• A lot of variety in it's level design, despite their connections not always making sense
• Huge PvE build-variety - You can make even joke-weapons PvE viable
• Adaptility (mainly governs iframes) allows finer control of your builds
• Larger possible connection ranges for co-op
• Stimulating enemy placement (at least in this version of the game)
• Combat has just the right speed
• Fun NPC invasions, a few being offline-mode exclusive (new players even mistake them for real players sometimes)
• NG+ has additional enemy encounters
• A "hard-mode" in the form of a covenant
• You can burn a certain item at bonfires, to make the area of that bonfire one NG-cycle higher, respawn the boss, the enemies and most of the items

Cons:
• Most bosses are kinda lame and basic
• Adaptility and Soul Memory can make the game less accessible to new players - the former can be especially annoying in the early game, regardless if you're a new player or not
• Poor balancing...as is Dark Souls tradition (a few examples: Counter Damage is OP in general, Miracles are kinda bad until lategame for solo-PvE and bleed is 100% useless)
• No PW summoning, making co-op playthroughs a bit harder
• Finding multiplayer action is harder, than it would be in other soulsgames of similiar size of the playerbase due to the playerbase being spread across more areas - DSII is the largest soulsborne in terms of amount of content
• No matchmaking filters for multiplayer (the cross-region setting only applies to JP copies of the game and vice-versa)
• Just like with DSR and DSII, the game's anti-cheat is worse than having no anti-cheat at all (make regular savegame backups, in case a cheater messes with you!)

Edit: Nevermind, you already own the game. What's stopping you from just trying it out yourself?

I heard mixed things about the game wanted to know from the horse's mouth i.e the community and see if it's even worth playing.

I played all soul games and this is by far my favourite.

All weapons are viable in ds2 (except for some joke ones)

With good timing and enemy knowledge, you can dodge every attack without levelling ADP.

Dual wielding

New game+ actually changes the game. New enemies and even some bosses are different.

Edit :pvp almost feels like a fighting game. Unless you run into a lagging opponent (thats just the usual dark souls I guess)

I see, so it's just simple curiosity then. Most people asking are unsure wether to buy the game or not. I've un-striked my previous post.

Every player has his Fav one Ds2 was long laborious and in my opinion 3 is far better. I use k/m on all 3 ds games and have 100 % achievements on all 3

My fave souls series, gameplay > graphic

I know only SOTFS and i think it's great. I love it and i love also first and third. But this one is somehow special. What i am looking forward, hopefully this year, is incoming mod Flames of Old, where is one modder fixing in-game lighting and the result is stunning.

Nope

Game is bad, design choice are bad, graphic and audio are meh but it's fun as ♥♥♥♥ to play

There is more builds viable here then in any other Dark Souls game

Soul memory
Rom1x Jan 9, 2021 @ 7:07am
Most of them hate ds2 because the quality is bad, bosses are weak and boring, and also soul memory instead of soul level.

it's not bad, it's just that one game has to be the worst but it's still a great game
