A plain old Longsword+STR build is more than enough damage to comfortably beat the game and all DLC with, especially with Ring of Blades and Flynn's Ring, which is actually one of the best rings in this game.
I am rocking that one as high damage second weapon. Sometimes I replace it with Zweihander if I want to wear heavier armour. I also upgraded the Pursuer's Greatsword which is doing more damage than the Great Sword, but the moveset is funky sometimes.
I usually beat the game with long sword and claymore. This time I wanted to get the Greatsword before I reached the Smelter Demon. It was a good idea.
I remember using greatclub against the Loyce Knights, and pancaking them. It was a lot of fun. It wasn't a strength char though. I'll upgrade it as well. Thanks.
