Weapons that infuse unexpectedly well.
I have really fallen in love with the Manakin Sabre lately particularly because of how this thing takes infusions. IDK if it's because of it's natural bleed damage or what, but when infused with an element, it loses almost none of it's physical base damage, only dropping from 245 to 220 but then ALSO adding a 147 damage from your chosen element. Just nasty. Much stronger than even the warped sword at lower levels. AR of over 400 on my 89k curved sword only character.
Anyway, I am curious if there are some other interesting weapons out there that have unusual infusion benefits. Another good example is how the Heide sword works with poison/bleed infusions in similar fashion. The ice rapier qualifies some what as well, again possibly related to it having innate secondary damage.

This thing is much like the Bluemoon Greatsword in that it has super high base damage, but no scaling at all. This makes it a perfect candidate for raw or elemental infusions. At +10 the AR 500 jumping to 575 when infused raw. Not bad at all. However this really shines with an elemental infusion because it does a 350/350 split of physical /elemntal damage for a whopping 700 AR. Perfect for any buffs since they are based off your total AR. Also much like the Bluemoon, this weapon does have durability and weight issues, but if acquired early on, is total easy mode. Paticularly when infused and buffed.
I wish that weapon had better durability and scaling in strength because it looks like the perfect greathammer for a paladin build (paladins various kinds of weapons but I think of greathammers/large maces as their lore appropriate weapon). I'm still really salty about that actually. I mean why the hell would a greathammer NOT have scaling in strength? It makes no sense to me. Also there aren't many good greathammers (aesthetically) for a paladin build.

I don't get your complaint, it has almost as much AR as the other scaling greathammers... As for durability, well, repair powders and no unnecessary r2 pancakes.

You can only buy unlimited repair powders when you get to drangleic castle and the +2 durability ring is in the Undead Crypt. Even if the damage is good I think the low durability makes the weapon not worth it. You either have to spend a lot of souls on repair powder (which is pretty expensive) which will make you constantly raise your soul memory or you have to sacrifice a ring slot for that +2 durability ring. Also I don't really care about if the damage is as good or better than other greathammers. The weapon's scaling affects my roleplaying. A paladin build wouldn't feel complete for me if i'm using a weapon that doesn't have strength scaling.

I have been using it extensively all weekend and have almost no issues. Even the base bracing knuckle ring can make it completely viable. I highly recommend giving it a try. And as far as a paladin build goes, just get the 30 strength and pour the rest into faith. Because your paladin is a very devout believer. It would pair extremely well with offnesive miracles since all those extra strength points could go into faith and attunement.

By the way, for whatever it's worth, my build is loosely based of the god Hephaestus. He wields a Craftsman's Hammer and a Lightning Old Knight Hammer with flame weapon because blacksmith of the gods. Haven't quite worked my fashion souls yet tho... Something blacksmith looking yet still godly.

When you put it that way that sounds like something I wouldn't mind trying. I guess this could be my next character. Thanks!

That sounds f*cking awesome. I was actually considering using the Craftman's Hammer for a dwarf build I have right now but I ended up going for some larger weapons (first the gyrm greathammer then the gym greataxe). He already has fifty strength and the greataxe is +10 but I might level a bit of faith and infuse the greataxe with fire. It's hard to be creative with names in DaS2 because of the character limit for names is really small but I named him Bron Fyrefist.

Edit: here's a screenshot of him but this is before he had the Gyrm Greataxe.

I was working my way towards the gyrm hammer on this build before I got the old knight drop. no regrets. the gyrm has a slightly more fun moveset, but old knight has pancake r2's.

I f*cking love pancake R2's. It's why I switched from the Gyrm Greathammer to the Gyrm Greataxe. I forgot what the two-handed R2 is on the Gyrm GA but I'm sure it's better than that spin to win on the Gyrm GH :P. I don't like how that spin to win feels.
