Does hacking Hellkite Dragon's tail give anything?

The red dragon in Heide's Tower area - it's ripe for arrows, but would hacking off its tail give some unique item like with dragons and gargoyles in DS1?

sadly no, there is few enemies you can chop off their body parts, and only one as i remember drops anything at all.

however, killing that dragon always drops the dragon parma shield, which is an ok shield i guess (aside from parring, i never use shields so im clueless on that matter).

Thanks! I'll still try to taking it out in melee instead of cheesing it with bow, but I'll know not to concentrate on the tail :)

Cutting tails on this game give nothing, but the fight will be easier without it.
The best way is to just walk to the middle of stairs and prepare to run straight to him, this works even with low level

Beat him by just halberding its legs. The hard part was getting to him without being fried - happened a whole bunch of times.

the only bosses that can be backstabbed are the undead congregation, spoopy skeleton lords and the three graverobbers if my memory doesnt fail me
