Help with DEX build please!
Just finished DS1 and i am going to start on DS2 sotfs real soon. Been looking around and decided to play with rapiers.

Can anyone help with stats allocation?

Seen something like:

Vigor 40
Endurance 40
Vitality 15
Strength 14
Dex 40
Adaptibility 30

I am looking to power stance ricard rapier + 1 rapier, mainly for PvE only. Did 0 pvp in DS1 and not looking to PvP.

Please tell me if the stats above are correct.

Rapiers may not be the best weapons for powerstance.

If this is realy your first DS2 playthrough, then please pick something more fun.
Rapiers are super strong, but also boring as hell with the limited moveset.

While thrusting swords are great boss killers and have excellent dps, they suck at crowd control and this is usually the biggest problem that new players have. Until you get familiar with the game, I high recommend also carrying a curved sword or katana as they are also dex weapons, but have much more versatile movesets including horizontal sweeping attacks that will help immensely against overwhelming crowds of enemies.

Rapiers are bland since they only have a single move with slight variations, use some other dex weapons as well.

Statwise you can put Vigor to 50, Endurance 20 is mostly enough though 40 is also good, Vit 15 is easily enough for light clothes, dex can be put to 60 for more damage, or stay at 40, adaptability should be at 24, more is not worth it unless you go to 36.

VIG 40 END 20-30 STR 20 VIT 15 ADP 20 END 40 max lvl 150

Listing stats is pretty pointless since no max level have been defined. And in solo PvE you just keep leveling up as long as you keep playing. The question should be "What will I level up first before others". Priority order could be...

STR and DEX for current weapon requirements(naturally)
86 Agility(the equation for your Agility is "80 + 0.25*ATN + 0.75*ADP")
20 Vigor(you get highest health increase per point at 20 or less)
Enough Vitality to not fat-roll(if you happen to wear heavy armor)
Some more Agility
20 Endurance(you get 2 stamina at 20 or less and 1 stamina after that)
30 Vigor
40 DEX(first softcap)
Then increase whatever you feel you are lacking the most(VIG, END, AGL).

Man, most of the advice in this thread is bad to absolutely terrible.

I mostly agree with Jouni.

Stats for Rapier > 86 Adp > 20 Vigor > 88 or 92 Adp > 20 End > 92 or 96 Adp > personal preference, but goal is 50 Vigor, 40 Dex and either 96, 99 or 105 Adp. More isn't worth it until you're level 200+. I assume you're going to level Dex first since you want to powerstance your stuff, you need pretty high Dex for that. At least 37, infact. And 12 Str. Just keep in mind that a Ricard's Rapier is just a worse standard Rapier in terms of damage till 40+ Dex. And since you have two weapons to upgrade you might run into upgrade material bottlenecks which kinda gimp your damage in the early to mid game.

You'll reach those stats at around level 110-120, Knight is probably the optimal starting class (and also has an easy start thanks to an actually good starting weapon) for you.

Adp levels with both Atn and Adp. Because of that it's pretty silly to suggest specific Adp values because those values don't mean much by themselves, the exact Adp that you want depends on your Atn stat.

After you reached the above mentioned stats you should pump Dex (next softcap is at 50) and End (linear progression, no more softcaps after 20) higher. Maybe Vit of you plan to use heavy armor (softcaps at 29 and 49, but I doubt that you ever need that much) or just want faster stamina recovery and longer roll distances.

This is slightly confusing. In fact every Agl is written as Adp.

I stand by my simple advice to also use a weapon with some sweep attacks for a first run. One of the most consistent problems that people have when starting out(pure noobs and those coming from other souls games too)is getting overwhelmed by groups of enemies. Until you learn aggro ranges and how to avoid getting ganked, some basic horizontal attacks that can hit multiple enemies are invaluable and can prevent many avoidable deaths and frustrations. Otherwise, you're on point as per usual.
