Equip Load% Question?
Hi, I'm reading on stuff and trying to figure out...is being at 50% equip load, okay/good, or does it need to be 49.9%? I see 50% referenced a lot, but I don't know if they mean that's the maximum, or if I can be equal to 50% (my character screen says 50% equip, 30.5/61.0, does this give me that "breakpoint"? Or does it need to be 49.9%?

it depends on what youre doing honestly. if youre gonna PvP, youll wanna stay as light as possible so as to avoid being "roll caught" by laggy r1 spammers. perfectly timing your dodges only works against people with modern internet connections. if youre doing PvE mostly, any weight is fine. i usually run around with the max possible load i can have and still roll with, as massive levels of defense and poise are far more useful in the actual game, with the exception of a few bosses who do so much poise damage you might as well just go naked. i.e. the dlc bosses. in their case, stack elemental defense with the lightest gear youve got and spam dat roll.

You need to be at 49.9%

50% is valid. But it makes no sense, except for the speed of restoring stamina. Rolling speed and range (as well as invulnerability frames) will be the same as with a load of 70%.

50% is slower stamina regen than 49.9 though. The breakpoints for stamina regen are at exactly 10, 20, 30 and so on %

No, with a load of 50%, the speed of endurance restoration drops by 30%. With a load of 40% it will fall by 17.5% 60 -> 40, 70 -> 55

I see...so out of curiousity, what Vitality or equip load do most people run with? I was told to get 30ish adaptability to get to 105 agility for fast roll, and to stay 50% and below but clearly that was not the right information. So should I just put another stat into vitality, to get to 49%, that will be much better than 50%?

That isn't how it works, there are no breakpoints. It's a continuous function.

Rolling distance is NOT be the same at 50.0 and 70.0%, it scales with your equipment load aswell (and again, it's continuous). The roll's duration is the same, that much is true, iframes are unaffected, too.

not at all true. roll distance like stamina regen, increases every 5% between 50-70. in fact, its BEST to keep your equip load under 30% for the highest roll distance. PROTIP: if you ever see someone rolling long distance in havels, their cheating.

So I have upped my vitality to 29 and I am using 38%ish carry weight, is this okay now?

If you feel it is okay, then it is okay. If it still feels bad, then no.

thanks yeah i want to pvp mostly but this first playthrough im trying to find and do everything I can, and then in NG+ but after that i'll focus mostly on pvp and pvp builds. I see that after 20 endurance you only get 1 point compared to 2, and after 29 vitality you only get 1 point compared to 1.5, so I take it 20 end is soft cap and 29 vit is soft cap? then 50 vigor soft cap? 105 agility soft cap? am I right on all of these? I got that royal soldier ring and now I'm at 29% equip load, my rolls definitely seem longer and at 105 agility I seem to have a good bit of iframes. Can't tell stamina regen but it seems fine too

dont worry about soft caps. this isnt ds1/3, and there is NEVER a reason to stop leveling. if youre going for pvp, you can mostly ignore hp and stamina till your damage stats are maxed out. and by max, i mean 99. for mad easy soul grinding, go to the "secret" bonfire next to the rotten, where you have to use a fragrant branch of yore, pick up the asthetic there, kill the rotten with an ice rapier (should take ~10-20 seconds till the 4th cycle, then 20-40 till max, then ~60 seconds), run back to the bonfire, burn the asthetic, stand up and pick up the one that just spawned right next to you, and repeat that for an hour or so. DONT bother summoning the guy or fighting the phantom. make a mad dash to the fog door, youll figure out when to dodge eventually, walk in, and cub check him. make sure you kill the majula armor salesman for dat sweet tseldora set, and wear your best silver serpent ring. plus, every 99 kills you get to pop 2 stacks of boss souls for an extra like 7mil or so souls.
