The king's crown anti-hollowing effect isn't working and I can't access Vendrick's memory

So I was fighting the gank boss in the sunken kingdom, and took off the crown to replace it with Havel's helm. I unfortunately died on the way to the boss, and when I respawned, I put on the crown to reverse the effect, only to find it didn't work. I then checked my inventory, to find that all of the crowns were seperated, and taking the king's crown off and putting it back on again repeatedly had no effect. I ran back to where Vendrick was, only to find the light was gone, and I couldn't retrieve his blessing again. What do?

To function immortality you have to be with any crown equipped at the time of the death of your character, after your character turns empty does not work equip the corrode to remove the effect.
