How am I supposed to lower the bridge to the old dragonslayer?

I hate Heide's Knights 'random' attacks.

Try reaching dragon's legs fast as possible.

The sword-wielding Heide Knights overhand attack that begins their 3 hit combo is very easy to parry. Even a base level dagger can kill one in 2-3 ripostes. Try a buckler/target shield or small leather shield to learn the timing as they will be the most forgiving. After you get it down, it is possible even barehanded or with greatweapon ultra-parries.

you can make the sprint to the dragon without getting flamed if you start sprinting at the top step and roll at the last couple feet!

Kill Heide knights one at a time. Spear one was the toughest for me with the starting ADP stats (roll forward during the jumping attack). For the dragon, I ran right under the dragon before it woke up and then attacked the feet. If you are having trouble, go down to the front of the Dragonrider boss fight and summon the npc phantom there to help with the heide knights and to distract the dragon.

also, try using a hammer intead of a sword. this will make a big difference in eliminating the larger guys.

wait til you try NG+. they add 2 more great hammerers and 3 red phantoms. :)
and yea, you rush the dragon after luring the hiede spearman down the stairs and killing him.
once the dragon is awake you kind of need to reset or summon help to run/shoot at the same time.

I know i'm doing something wrong, that's why i made this thread. I'm looking for tips, i don't want to complain with the actual game.

Also this thread is kinda outdated, i think i know what to do now. I just had to learn that passing by enemies like ds1 and 3 doesn't work in this one

Lets start with the fact that you are running forward and end up fighting 3 heide knights, 4 fatties and a "freaking" dragon in the same time.

haha! yes, thats why i think its the best! it certainly is possible to run past everything, but its more difficult, with reduced iframes when interacting with objects and stuff.

and people complain about the hordes in ds2, but really, theyre just used to running past everything in ds1/ds3 XD lololol listen to me hammer that estus chug as i stroll through hordes XD

It works for most areas though... and it isn't that challenging. Usually. It also works well against that heide's tower dragon if you can kill him before the mob catches up (basically impossible if you go there right at the beginning of the game, but it's an optional area and if you return some time later the dragon is a pushover).

I want to kill dragonslayer early for low level invasions, i can't lower the bridge with wnemies nearby, every enemy takes 3 hits, a parry or a dozen hits while spitting fire and trampling. I'm not sure if running past everything is a option.

I have to kill them one by one. It's tedious with 2 estus but i'm making progress

parry the hiede knights wit hswords and backstab the knight with the spear. The Stone knights are ez and slow. The dragon has a very limited moveset once you get close, or you could buy alot of arrows and shoot him from afar
