I dont think you need to speed it up. Just go about it the way you feel comfortable. I use a claymore, he goes down quite fast.

With sacred oath and red tearstone you will obviously do even more damage although I wouldn't risk getting killed for the damage buff. I never use sacred oath either because I'm too lazy to do so.

Dual blacksteel katanas / chaos blades were also very fast and efficient, although you'll have to deal with HP loss with Chaos Blades.

When it comes to ranged, resonant soul and climax are a beast, although climax obviously isn't very beneficial for this fight since it consumes all of your souls.

Maaan, i have killed this boss more than 500 times and i can tell u, the best comfortable way is to use black orb\ Great Resonant Soul \ Great Chaos Fireball. Buffs will take your time and its make no sence at all. Dont forget bout Aged Feather after killing boss. This dynamic way of comfort farm. Another ♥♥♥♥ make no sence

dark ice rapier w/ dark weapon, just 2h. engraved gauntlets, switch for the soul gaining stuff when he dies. 2h is more stamina efficient and helps your dps, it's better than powerstancing.
