In the blood arena, how does matchmaking work?
I heard you have to be in the same new game cycle as your enemy. But then I also heard about soul memory and level and I don't know whats the truth.

The blood arena searches for opponents of your lvl for the first 5-10 seconds. But then if it doesn't find such an opponent it thinks "Ah, f**k it" and just gives you any player who is searching for a duel at the moment too.

That isn't exactly the same. You can slightly controll it. If you start the searching for a duel and then cancel it in 5 seconds (If it doesn't find an opponent for you immediately) you get really good chance to find a player of your lvl (I've been practicing that for a long time)

Interesting way to get rid of the overleveled players and their boring duels

It's not 5-10 seconds. The reddit post says it's more like 1 minute. Even if you stand up before the threshold you can still be pulled in by an 838 who had been waiting for 1+ min.

Thank you people for insights about finer details of arena pvp. However I want to ask about a narrow point.

If you are 150 which SL are considered direcly in your range? How up you can go? My pure meele build needs 10 point to reach 40 Str / 40 Dex. Pure meele no infusion is considered weak compared to infusions. So I am considering if it would be fair to level up to 160.

Would that make me match 150 direcly?
