Is it possible to summon a high level to a low level?

To put it broadly a friend joined my and my other friend when we are about half-way (?) through the game, then we realized that I think there is a level barrier because I am lvl 102 and the other friend is lvl 85, would it be posssible for us to somehow get summoned by him even though he has a fresh new character? Btw if there is no way could someone tell me what the level barrier of summoning is?

You can only summon people close to your soul memory (total souls collect in the game). There is no way around that and you probably cant be summoned by your friend.
There are some items that increase the range you can summon others (like the ring with the gods). If you want to know specific numbers just google "ds2 sm range".

Thanks, well guess we're gonna have to make disposable characters until his soul memory is high enough.
