is online dead or mostly dead in darksouls 2?

i rarely encounter anything online...
im not soft banned last i checked...
the total deaths marker was to high for me to be softbanned.

its gotten lame...without any threats of invaders...

It's mostly dead, the higest number i've seen is like 3000 people and thats at the best of times

Depends where you go, but for the most part it's pretty dead and wildly inconsistent. The other day I was getting successful invasions with no wait for an hour. The next day, same time, same place...nothing.

It’s pretty consistent. Yesterday was a weekend, so all the little kid invaders and all of the nice sunbros are at school on Monday.

No, the problem is a relatively small playerbase lol. On top the PvE is seen as the worst of the series so less people (re)play it.
During a casual playthrough SM does not matter. It only becomes an annoyance if you want to CAP your SM, be it for PvP or PvE purposes. And well, Agape Ring...

No it is not dead.you can find coop under 6M SM in my experience but after that range coop is dead because high SM people prefer do pvp.1500 in-game player still easy enough to find some coop but under 1500 it will be harder to find multiplayer.

timezone's? i mean their's times i can't find people to help and other times i am invaded i think you just need to know time when people are likely to be online but tbh you are all playing a game from 5yrs ago so chances are people would be playing something farely new like PUBG or assains creed origin, or monster hunter right now so... get with the times

I won't stop trying 😜 I like the PvE anyways, and I can always check to see if someone is in the area that I can invade.
