Why does the lost sinners soul look different then the dukes dear freja's soul?
So i havent gone too far in the game so i have no idea what the other two old ones souls look like, but why does the lost sinners soul look bright and red but the TDDF soul looks like a normal boss soul?

Freya did not have the Soul of an Old one. If you remember, you pick it up from the floor in the boss room. (the soul was at the ancient wyveryn who is now a host to the spiders' nest)

They're actually called the Old Nameless Ones, too... so Freya obviously isn't one of them, because she's got a name :P

I wouldn't say it's obvious.

Yes, it is not obvious, though it is told that the names of the Old Ones are forgotten.

If fextralife (which gets half of their info wrong) is to be believed. You don't need any great souls as long as you have a SM of 1 million.

But yes you do need to examine the red icon on the ground after killing freja, but it will not get you the great soul, it just says great soul embraced.

That is true, you just have to be "Blessed with a miriad of souls" to open the Shrine. The point is that lorewise, Freja is not in posession of the soul. Although if you kill her in NG+ she will drop Seath's soul on death, but I assume that this was just overlooked by the devs.

It's a bug. They forgot to set an icon for Freya's soul. Most of the time it appears a generic one, but it's missing from loading screens, which suggest it's a bug, and loading screens are not capable of retrieving a placeholder icon, like the inventory.

I have not noticed that, it is interesting.
