What armor is good for Giant Dad build? [SOLVED]
Looking to make a Giant Dad build, just for fun. What's the closest armor we have to that? Thank you!

1. Pharros Mask
2. Velstadt's Armor
3. Havel's Gauntlets
4. Velstadt's Leggings

I added the Havel because even with over 100 poise, this build still gets poise broken by some enemies! I also used the Ring of Giants. Thanks everyone, again!
That sounds really cool. Poise is pretty good in dark souls 2 but unfortunately heavy armor plus the Ring of Giants isn't enough sometimes. ADP also gives you a lot of natural poise so it's worth putting at least 15-20 points into adp. Also if you beat Giant Lord at ng+ level (by using a bonfire ascetic at the appropriate bonfire) you get Ring of Giants +2! For the +1 version you need to run past two giants in a secret spot in the Black Gulch. It's in a metal chest in a small room past the two giants. To open a few locked doors in the game as well as have another Giant's Soul to make fighting King Vendrick easier you need to kill those Giants. Most people cheese them with poison arrows.

He one-handed the bass canon though. Don't make that mistake. Also he had the simpletons ring equipped I suppose for extra adp but it doesn't fit the build because of the smoke rolls. I don't even think he rolled in that entire video anyways.

He's using the Syan's set in the video.

Oh woops. Good eye. That's a good other option but the Mastadon Set looks more Giant Dad-like imo. The legs also seem to make you look really tall.

i love popping a bro for 800+ damage on a 2h r1 from the MASTERdon halberd. also, use ironclad armor for antibackstabbing goodness.

also, never use the pharos mask. you take hella lightning damage with it on, and cant see some buffs and spells.

That's actually a helpful tip but for a good Giant Dad build there's no other choice besides the Pharros Mask imo. It's too similar to the Mask of the Father.

Considering what giantdad actually is, a hommage of a pre-patch meta, something like buttface + havels, offhand monastery scimitar and like a tumblebuffed (still possible, but hard to pull off) moonlight gs or resonant weapon santiers + mundane dagger would fit the spirit a lot better.

The legend never dies.

I can't think of a whole ton of enemies that deal lightning damage to make it a deal breaker.

The only enemies that can do a decent amount of lightning damage imo are those Fume Sorcerers in the Old Iron King DLC. Not with the little lightning ball they shoot but the one that explodes on impact and leaves an active mass of lightning where it lands. The real risk with being hit by that spell is getting stunlocked while another enemy is about to start attacking you, getting knocked off the ledge where you first meet the Fume Sorcerers, or getting wedged between that lightning mass and the spiked walls in that one part of Brume Tower (you literally get pinged back and forth between the mass of lightning and the spiked wall).
