In the room where lightning shortbow+1 lies around, there´s a ladder that leds you to it.
The shield is quite a trap because the knockback can easily push you into the lava and you lose a ton of stamina so that you won't be able to counterattack the 3-4 times you could after a roll.
Oh and never lock on in that fight, unless you're a caster (or archer). It makes the fight a lot harder.
He also has different height levels of the fire breath, and sometimes he will lower his head right to the edge of the arena as he does it and you can actually run to the left side of his face (your right if you are facing him directly) and melee his face for nice damage without getting hit. This is risky though so do it at your own risk.
One more thing about the safe spot is that sometimes instead of spamming breath if you are just 100% camping there without trying to bait out his physical attacks he might do his hand laser beam attack which can reach you there or more often he will dive in the lava and reappear closer to you making the fire breath safe spot obsolete once he is that close. So trying a ranged 100% camp cheese method in that safe spot is I would say more risky than baiting out his physical attacks.
Hope this helps you unless you already beat him.
I second that you do not need those fire defenses because if he is hitting you with fire, you are taking a lot of damage or dying either way no matter what things you are using to raise your fire defense (because his fire damage is so high) unless using the 100% fire block shield and even that might not work due to stamina being drained quickly from blocking the fire breath.
Try to stay under 71% of your equipment load, you don't need to have armors (they're kinda useless in this game x') but to dodge and good luck! If you don't succeed I'm here for help. I totally agree with raptortobi. And, if this could help, don't lock the enemy. Face him, give him 1/2 attacks and roll back, be aware of your stamina. HIs attacks are really slow, learn the pattern and roll to the win (?)
