What is better for the dark build or preferable to upgrade first?

Roaring H is "better", it hits like a truck, like several trucks actually. If you can use it weight-wise, go for it.

Scythe of Nahr Alma is kinda weak, Scythe of Want is better imo. I only used SoNA in PvP tho.

The Scythe of Want is definitely the better Dark-Scythe and doesn't rely on a buff to make some damage. Speaking of that, later on the Scythe of Nahr Alma could perform better regarding damage, but the SoW's moveset is sooo much better.
Since they're both Scythes they're rather weak. The Roaring Halberd has insane damage and a very decent range, usual halberd-moveset, so very solid. It just breaks very quickly...

I am not planning to kill Nashandra until I beat everything else, so I will skip the scythe of want until NG+.
