Will uninstall DS2:SotFS and DS1:PtDE make me lose my characters?
I mean, I already got all the achievements for both, but I'd still be p|ssed if, after uninstalling them, I'd lose my characters (especially considering it took me 100 hours with both to complete them). :rshocked:

In DS2 yes. In DS1 it shuldn't happen, but still doing a backup is always a good idea

So they didn't implement a cloud backup save in DS2 but they did in DS1?

@DS1: if your cloud save of the save files is up to date, you won't loose them
@DS2:SotFS: doesn't have cloud save, so you have to backup %drive:\users\%user\appdata\roaming\darksoulsii by yourself

Weak....Ok, guess I'll back up the save files for both. Thanks to the both of you.

Also, searching a little on the web someone said if I ever want to play the game again after I uninstalled it I should create the same number of characters I had when I uninstalled.
Can someone confirm this?

I'd say that makes no sense. All your caracters are in the same safe file. So once you load your old save file you'll have eevrytihng just as you left it. Whatever you do before isn't saved so it doesnt matter

Yeah, that sounded strange to me too.
Oh well, guess I'll see if and when I'll ever do that. As I said, I already got all the achievements for both, so I don't really have the need to play the games in the future again.

I installed DS2:SotfS on my new PC, restored the saves and had all my characters back. There was no need to create any except for new characters. As MobiusPizza wrote otherwise would make no sense anyway.

Neither of the games will make your saves disappear. I de- and reinstalled both of them like 5 times, so there's your proof.

Making backups on a regular basis is (obviously tbh) still recommended.

Like already mentioned though, ALL characters are on ONE savefile.

I should have added that you *need* the manual backup of DS2SotfS save files on a new machine or after reinstalling the OS.

your good in dks 1, i know because I deleted my game to stop raging and still had it when I came back.

I uninstalled this game for several months, reinstalled it, still had my characters. So you should be good

Save games are stored in your appdata/roaming file. Unless you manually go in and delete the file associated with saves yourself the saves should not disappear when you uninstall the game.

Dark Souls 3 is the same way, DS1 I honestly have no idea where the saves are.
