The Rotten 'boss'
it seems every time i try to defeat the rotten 'something' happens 1. i get poisoned and or killed by the npc invader 2. i get him to really low health and he spams the magic attacks 3. he managed to grab me while he actually shouldn't and i get staggered into one of those damaging holes and i die

how do i not get poisoned by the area before the boss?

wait... is this an optional boss? is the whole area here optional?

It's... kind of mandatory. You have to kill him for the "intended" progression, but if you accumulate enough souls on your journey you don't have to kill him.

You don't get poisoned by avoiding to get shot by those poison blowdarts, easy. The bonfire is literally just before the fog so no idea how you get spanked by the statues and the invader so hard.

well, i finally managed but now i wonder what the area is for that says CLOSED when you get near a door

Which door are you talking about?

On the issue of being poisoned... you can break the statues that spit out the poison.
Very tedious and annoying.

IRed phantom NPC invaders are a scripted event. Nothing you can do about it.

I meant like when you finally defeat the rotten there's a hallway that leads to a bonfire that teleports you to the main hub and in the background there's a bowl of sorts that teleports you to a room with things looking like gravestones, however the door is closed. is this DLC? and do i need an item to go there?

Yeah this is a DLC and needs one of the 3 keys that unlock the 3 separate DLC doors that exist in the game. I would recommend finishing the game first and all its areas and be at least 60-80 level before attemtping them as they are much harder than the base game. Don't fret, you can continue playing in the game after you beat the final boss, when you do that just find a guide or ask people here where the DLC keys are!

That door takes you to Shulva. To get the key you need to:
1. Get the first key from Black Gulch by killing 2(or more if you have summons) Elite Giants in the hidden cave. There is a platform near the worms which you can see if you look over the ledge.
2. Survive the fall to the pit in Majula again and open the door that was locked before. The key to Shulva is there.

Shulva is easier than the other two DLCs so there's really no reason to not go there.
