Pharros Mask not working?

I wanted to get the items from the lava so I ran the gauntlet to kill BSD and get the mask. However, I take the same fire damage with the mask on as with it off. ? (The wiki said it has high fire res.)

Well, after a few suicide runs I got all the stuff so it does not really matter, but I was still wondering if it is bugged or not?

ya need alot more than just that...

use the mask.your best fire resistance ring and armour, a small red burr, flash sweat and you can do it np... but be fast.

oh... and smash the pots and get covered in water if need be. every bit helps.

Mask buff overwrites rolling in water.

Mask gives +100 fire resist, not immunity. If you want to run through that stuff without taking much damage, you'll want a fire resist ring, flash sweat and some decent armor to get as high as possible on fire resist.

thanks for the info about the overwrite.... I had no clue... every little bit or something negating something else can be the difference between life and death...much like stamina management...:)

I though the mask it gave you the same as the water urns (400?).

Nope. It's a permanent 100 while equipped instead of the temporary 300/400 from urns/fountains/etc. Makes it pretty easy to get yoruself to 999-ish fire resist and be able to stand in ancient dragon's fire breath without caring.

Apart from fire ring +3 you can take dispelling ring +1 too
chaos robe and boots grant a lot too

water pots + orange burr + fire ring+3 + old rad gem were enough (to open the chest, pick up the pyro spell and then die) :D

If i remember water pots make you immune to fire for couple of minutes or less

Huh? What? What I remember isn't that it give fire res, but rather doesn't make the fire res of being wet by water go away. What it simply does it to make the wet buff permanent instead of time limited.

No. Being wet gives a huge fire res but you are not immune. If we go in reality it might actually be worse as water makes the heat transfer much easier into the skin burning you much faster, kind of how cooking oil makes the frying much easier. But this is a game sooo.
