Fake Pharros Lock in Earthen Peak?
There is a Pharros Lock just before the Snake boss at the top of Earthen Peak. I put my last stone in there, but nothing happens. Is that normal?

I don't know how to beat the Snake Boss without the Poisonbite Ring; where do I get it?

Well, you can use a torch at the Central Eathern Peak bonfire and burn the windmill, you'll get a prompt for this when you get close enough. This removes most of the poison in Mytha's boss room, as well as some poison pools in other locations.

As for the lockstone, it makes a new poison pool somewhere not far from the boss, that turns into healing water after you burn the windmill.

For the love of Gwyn, burn the windmill.

Sorry, i feel triggered by that stupid puzzle. Have you ever tried to show the host how the windmill prompt works with the power of interpretive dance (=gestures)?

Doesn't work.

I did.

The host burnt the windmill after I gained his trust and showed him tons of loot places.

Then I went to the bonfire to get a torch and pointed at him.

Then, I ran to the windmill and he tried to follow. I walked back and pointed at the windmill and he burnt it.

To be fair, it is not at all obvious. I only learned about by browsing the DS2 artwork section

What's cool (or at least amusing) is that the npc summon Devotee Scarlett (which is a SOTFS only npc) will point at the windmill for you and then sometimes after you light the windmill on fire she'll do the joy gesture or another gesture celebrating that you figured it out (haven't played sotfs in awhile so I forget which exact gesture). Also Devotee Scarlett is actually a really capable summon. SOTFS has a lot of good npc summons (bashful ray is a beast).

Bashful Ray always dies. I hate bashful ray. Felicia does better.

Well in my experiences Bashful Ray is a tanky badass and can survive the entire Executioner's Chariot boss fight (which usually involves him drawing aggro from a lot of skeletons and getting hit by the chariot a few times). If for some reason I can't get a hold of any alluring skulls and I dont have enough int to use the spell Yearn I count on Bashful Ray and Creighton to be my meat shields. That being said before I summon bashful ray and creighton I clear the path to the boss so they dont have to take any damage (if they do take damage somehow and I know healing miracles then I'll just heal them).

Most summons are pretty overpowered, at least in first game cycle. Makes you wonder who the real chosen one is.

I fell into that pit area in undead crypt where those cloaked reapers seemingly never stop respawning, and Devotee Scarlett basically tanked like 40 of them until I realized they were spawning from the graves.

Tested it for you, she does gestures directed at the windmill, I believe Bashful Ray does have a rare chance to do so if Devotee Scarlet isn't with you at the time.

Bashful ray is the mvp for sure. No matter the NG.
