uchigatana vs washing pole vs darkrift katana
I'm currently using uchigatana +10 and I like it, but should I consider switching?

Especially in DS2, Wash Pole isn't the best choice of katana in my opinion. Having 20 durability, low counter damage, and overall slower than other katanas just to be very long isnt worth it, and someone who invests in a corrosive arsenal can cripple you (This can be said about most katanas, though).

Darkdrift is kindof the opposite-- it's much shorter, purely dex, and probably even better as a mundane weapon, since broken mundane Darkdrift retains the damage, and the damage output exceeds normal if you manage to get lvl40 in all stats. Also, Shield-piercing is a rather lovely bonus.

Spacing is not as big of a deal in DS2 in comparison to 3, so I think Darkdrift is an overall better weapon if you want to switch. Dual-wielding like what Yakobull suggested is also an option.

Doesn't really matter because it has 20 less counter what'll result in you doing "only" 130% damage on counterhits (which the majority of the hits is).
It has shield-piercnig abilities, but that's only a deal in PvP, and eve then situational.

Same for the Washing Pole, only 130 counter. It's longer, but very fragile. Seriously, it breaks super-quickly. It's 2hR2 is also exceptionally slow and consumes a crapton of stamina.

The Uchigatana is just better than both.

Uchigatana as a early game weapon.
Darkdrift for PvP.
Blacksteel for dual wield and High DEX.
Dual Poison Manslayer against poisonable bosses or poison builds.

PS: Manslayer is a Uchi with native poison!

PS²: I do not like the move set of the Washing Pole! So I don't use it. But have a good range and it's a bit more stronger :)

Buuuuut. Answering your question directly. Washing Pole > Darkdrift > Uchi. If you have strength to use Washing Pole :)

@EDIT

I forgot the ridiculous durability of the washing pole! So...

Darkdrift for bosses. Uchi for regular PvE.

This sentense dunounces everything you say, even if it's perfectly reasonable. Spacing is the essence of DS2 PVP, because you have recovery in this game, unlike DS3, which you can consistently punish.

Except that it isn't. Counter-damage rules.

The Uchigatana is stronger than both the Darkdrift and Washing Pole.

Definitely seconding the Uchigatana. Its speed means you can get hits in even in very narrow openings, and being able to exploit even very slight mistakes rather than having to wait for the optimal time to strike WILL make you deal more damage in the long run, even disregarding counter damage. Its one-handed strong combo (1HR2) starts with a lunge stab, so it's perfect to cover ground... that definitely makes up for its shorter range to some extent.

Uchi is good, haven't lost a single 1v1 duel with it, but I think I'll keep upgraded washing pole for the fights in open areas.
