New players: DO NOT JOIN CHAMPIONS
*slight spoilers.

The Company of Champions in Dark Souls 2 is one of two covenants that are available as soon as you get to Majula. Being a member of this covenant substantially increases the game's difficulty level by making **every enemy deal more damage** (up to 50% in some cases, especially bosses), have more HP, and have approximately 20% damage resistance (tested on bosses under identical circumstances in SotFS), similar to playing in NG+ or using Bonfire Ascetics, while being in NG and without having to use ascetics at every bonfire.
** In addition, being in this covenant also disables cooperative play, removing the player's ability to summon anybody, including NPCs. Other players are still able to invade your world. This covenant also increases the range at which enemies will notice you.

hehe figured id post this because i just ran into 2 guys back2back that have been trying to coop, and grinding in forest for hours and hours. LOL.

The stone clearly states that this covenant will increase difficulty though... It even asks twice before you join. Don't know how it could not be obvious for a newcomers.

As a new player, I have only just found this out after a bit of googling. I was wondering why there were no summon signs appearing for the persuer boss..

i dont think it mentions the disabling of cooperative play, that is critical information too.
this thread is for those new humble monthly buyers that are just starting this month, and this could even be their first souls game.

Obligatory funny video.

I encourage new players to play through the game with this covenant, the game transforms to a different experience. Enemies do not despawn, forcing you to get through the mobs and learning the way to traverse the land. NG+ also adds and changes up things too.

EDIT: 3 Duels so far, 2 were dishonorable sods who didn't even gesture and were unoriginal fools who used meta weapons, and the 1st one actually had some originality. Shame, BOB Cov really is the worst.

Also, the matchmaking is, and I quote, "********" Because it can't even rank you properly with the right corrosponding players of the same rank, which is hilarious considering Dark Souls franchise was considered to of actually "HELD" A title of "Good PvP", which is a farse, LOL.

Conclusion: Just play the Blue Sentinel Arena, at least that place is good.
