Crown of the Sunken King- Gank Squad boss fight
Alright so took a break from Dark Souls 2, done most of the stuff in the base game but didn't kill the Scholar of the First Sin yet. Wanted to check out the DLCs and started with the Sunken King first. Having a great time for the most part, since it mainly felt more like the original Dark Souls experience I got. Killed Elana after numerous attemtps (way more than any boss fight in the base game), while still having a lot of fun.

I pulled back and explored another area after crossing a certain bridge since I got another fog gate right after the Elana fight, progressed through that area till I got to the boss fight where you fight 3 dudes, 1 in Havel armor set, 1 with a Dragonslayer bow (probably).

I only attempted this fight twice and it already brought down the level of fun I was having, feeling more like a chore to beat this boss that a fun challenge. Maybe thats just me, but how did you guys feel about this area and boss fight? Is it the worst part of the DLC?

Dude, I'm literally there right now, I'm staying behind trying to help people through it. I'm down to help, what's your SM?

I haven't beat it myself yet, but I've helped about 4 people through. I find that if you use a blitzkreig strategy on all the poison enemies before the boss room, you get through pretty easily. And once you get to the bosses, you just have to divide the workload amongst your team of 3 or 4 (Ideally, your team will be made of players, not those wimpy NPC's)

Weelll, thing is I never summon either NPCs or players :p I always want to do every fights by myself, but thanks for the offer!

I just rushed through everything to get to the boss room and it worked kinda well. I just hate the idea of fighting like 3 NPC invaders instead of a more creative boss.

I'll try the fight again tomorrow but I really hope I don't HAVE to summon for this fight.

I gotcha. In that case, try turtling the fight. Get a spear and a 100% shield and just deal damage where you can, that's my reccomendation.

Not a fun fight solo. The usual strategy is to run around in a circle, picking off one at a time. The havel wannabe will use an estus, but the others won't, so I usually save him for last.

It's a tough fight, no bones about it. Very challenging. I highly recommend hit and run strategies, and trying to keep them separated from each other. The one with the bow generally doesn't chase after you, while the Havel and dual Katana guy are just like homing beacons. Luckily, they are easy to separate briefly, and I recommend focusing your efforts on one until they die.

Also, using an ultra greatsword of some type helps. Most of them have a knockdown R2 attack. Makes the fight much more manageable. Good luck!
