Go buy the ring of whispers and go talk to the scorpion dude. He will let you summon him for the fight. It isn't that difficult of a fight either the boss telegraphs literally every attack.

Smack the trees, the shades can resist attacking them after they hear them moan

you can either run, hugging the left wall and appear near the trader, and it wont be far to the next area, or hugging the left side (but not too much, you can fall there).

Left side is better, due to the chloranty ring+1 and some other ring there.

go to iron keep and buy the jester's robes from magerold. That armor protects you from backstabs and thus the hidden enemies in that fog area can't sneakily backstab you. That's the best way traverse the area.
Slo, keep completely left for reaching Vengarl (friendly) and keep completely right till the end to reach the next area. While completely right, u'll find two chests with two very useful rings. So don't miss them on the right side of the area. Other than these extreme left and right paths, much exploration is honestly unnecesary.

I just made it to Iron Keep last night, and once again I felt as though I should ask for help but it seems that not many people are around at my Soul Memory level. I'll try again today, but that area is nuts, this game is really something else compared to Dark Souls 3 and I enjoy it

Well everyone can benefit from the chloranthy+1 which is a lot easier to find than the clear bluestone ring+1 (which is super helpful for sorcerers, pyromancers, and faith builds). Getting the clear bluestone ring+1 is usually a kamikzaki run, you won't survive but at least you got what you came for. Kind of like getting the blue titanite slab from the Royal Wood in dark souls 1 :steammocking: .

Thats BS. I can get that and chloranthy+1 at the same time without dying.
Also the foggy part of the shaded woods has a ring called the Old Sun ring which makes you emit a red aura and if enemies attack you too frequently you'll explode in a burst of fire, most likely killing them.

Well if you're experienced with the area its pretty easy but for new players I doubt it will be.

I personnaly don't waste time with this area and come back when I completed the ivory king DLC for reasons I won't tell to avoid spoilers.

I always grab the Chloranthy +1 on the run through. It pays off.

SInce I like to stay under 40% I don't need it, but yeah when you don't have the +2 it's a nice addition.

Meh, fog ring and silence ring make that blue titanite slab a cake walk.

Oh right. How could I forget? It's ashame the fog ring isn't in dark souls 2 (or 3?). If you can get to rank 3 in the rat covenant you can get the slumbering dragoncrest ring but it's not as op as it was in dark souls 1 (it just makes your footsteps silent but not your armor, so you either have to wear* very light cloth armor or nothing at all to be completely silent).
