Why Dark Souls 2's Dark Lord Ending is the Best in the Series...
So. I don't give Dark Souls 2 alot of praise. It's a good game, but for my own reasons, I have alot of issues with it. Scholar fixed alot of these issues, thankfully. However, I just recently thought about all the games endings. I'll be honest, despite the fact that DS1 is my favourite, I can't say the endings are particularly amazing. In one, you symbolically burn yourself to the flame, which is nice and very rich, but didn't really add much to context, in the other edgy ending, you meet a bunch of sneks that bow down to you. How do snakes bow thoug- The end ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Dark Souls 3's endings (I won't go over them, there's too many) are all fantastically done, but only really serve more to the lore and nothing else.

Dark Souls 2's original ending. Was kinda ♥♥♥♥. You finish an awful boss fight, and then sit on a throne. Bye.
Then, we got the Scholar update. I went into the new ending not expecting much. I got a kick directly in the skeleton balls. I didn't expect Aldia to go full exestential crisis on me. The ending quote is by far one of the most fantastically written pieces of dialogue in all of gaming history.

There is no path.
Beyond the scope of light, beyond the reach of Dark...
...what could possibly await us?
And yet, we seek it, insatiably...
Such is our fate.

Not unlike the Pursuers' description from DS1. The quote made me put down my controller and say wow. I am still impressed, and to this day I don't think a game ending has beaten it.

I do like the voice they picked for ol´ Aldy, such an odd one. Interesting character, shame about the whole gigantic, flaming mess of wood design-choice. ^^

I found Aldia boring. He is talking something but I have no idea what. I do not want to start a argument here or anything this is just my opinion.
For me, the DLC's stories and lore are much more intresting yet they are not perfect.

Well, there are many game endings that can top this one, if we want to start a general discussion.
As far this one in particular, I agree that is a very good one that does not disappoint. Though, during the whole game we find deep dialogues (Lucatiel for example is in full depressed mode)

Ohhh, there´s other sweet npc´s they did a sweet job with, I personally -love- Titchy Gren and the Belltower Puppets. Shame there isn´t more dialogue with them. ^^

The pillars along the way out look like the snakes from the dark ending of DS I with their heads chopped off, I found.
