Royal Rat Authority is a really bad boss.
level 120 and I swear there is no boss in the game with cheaper mechanics. You have to fight 4 lightning fast rats that toxic you in two hits, while fighting an enormous green dog that has the same range as a crane.

just A crane? as in one singular crane? your forgetting the inability to get any distance between them without it jumping at you like you were a super-magnet

Do you have any AoE spells/pyromancies?Thats a good strategy for the little super annoying rats.
The dog though is not so difficult, if you stay under it you avoid most of the attacks. Its similar to the Sif fight actually.

Yes, You're right, but you can do it soldier
Edit: Use something fast hitting, like a straighsword or a greatsword, doing it with greathammers, greataxes and ultra greatswords is just difficult, use something that faster, the black knight sword is great because the bastard is weak to fire, i mean REALLY weak

I've beaten the boss. I'm just venting on how Scholar didn't fix the awful mess that is the boss fight.

A crane with a super magnet glued to it. Or several.

Scholar didn't fix ANY of the major problems the game had, only major BUGS, major features and major bugs are not the same
<Insert bugs are features joke here>

Not gonna argue there. Though it also did make alot of good changes which actually let me fully enjoy DS2.

Absolutely! The almost constant NPC invasions as you progress is a welcome feature in my book.... but for gods sake why oh why did they KEEP SOUL MEMORY?!?

Who knows? :P I always return to DS2 after a few months and forget it's not SL-based.

Mmm, it is an annoyance, I´d like to have a bloke parked in the early Rat/Bell Covenant tiers, but that´d mean no consumables or arrows and weighing every weapon upgrade with the gold-scales. -.0
Actually, I might do that anyway, good ideas are for suckers.

You can take some of the rats out with ranged attacks.
