Petrified Dragon Bone
Just out of curiousity, where do you guys farm those?
Never have I tried upgrading boss weapon before, so I'm curious, how do you get Petrified Dragon Bones? On Previous runs, I would simply use Blacksteel Katana which has titanite shard upgrade path so I had no trouble at all, but this is kinda different story. How do you get those bones easily? Currently on the Old Iron King, had only 3 bones so far. I will need like... 27 more to complete the set.

Any advice on farming / easily obtaining those? Doesn't matter how far in the game, I would just like to know how to get them guranteed sooner or later.

Go to Dragon Aerie and use bonfire ascetics when you kill all the lizards. You can also find 8 of those behind an "explodable" wall in the Crown of the Ivory King DLC.

I farm them in Shulva 2nd bonfire. The chest with the 3x bones and 3x twinklings near the puzzling stone sword.
All right thanks a lot. Think I'll stick with Aldia's Keep if that's the case, no good memories from Sanctum City.

Thanks a lot everyone, really appreciate it.

In the whole game there are 52 Petrified Dragon Bones which you can find by just exploring the world.
The best farming spot for PDBs is Aldia's Keep - Second bonfire(the hammer guys drop it). The drop rate is good, I got 3 bones in 5 minutes sometimes. You should also join Covenant of Champions for infinite respawns. Another spot where you can farm PDBs is Dragon's Sanctum area, second bonfire - Lair of the Imperfect. If you have no problems with increased bonfire intensity, go the route TrueArchery suggests.

Best place:
Sunken king DLC with the "Imperfect" (black lizard/dragon), they have 5% drop following the wiki. I got A LOT of bones with dragon shield, mimic head, gold covetous ring etc...

EDIT: Don't forget to join champ covenant as soon as they strat to despawn so that you don't waste time.

Nah rly? 3 hits of great hammer (4 with throne watcher greatsword), and done, you can kill them BEFORE they start to attack (the engage fight animation). Water isn't a problem (roll frames remain the same in water).

Not to mention the bonfire right next to them!

the bonfire is a saving grace.

You're assuming you have the build for one of those weapons. I've never used big greathammers on them. IIRC, CSS don't do an enormous amount of damage on them.

Actually I have one GRThammer.FTH build, but the throne watcher greatsword one does good damage, and the build isn't optimized for it.
Why do you even use spells? You don't carry a weapon of any sort?

My most recent build is a spellsword. Surprisingly effective against arena randoms. Not so much against imperfects. Especially in higher ng cycles.

I only have access to low requirment weapons, and most of them are infused. So you end up having to dance with the imperfects for a minute to kill them.

much easier to just farm the box near the puzzling stone sword.

Well if your build has trouble it's better to farm it there.
I haven't been in higher NG cycles, so I don't want to farm with aestetics.

Assuming you got your Ascetics, the chest run in Shulva is the most reliable and least tedious way of farming them.

If you run out of ascetics, you can farm them in the first area of Aldia's Keep (burn one, loot two), there are another 2 bones to pick up, too.
myoptic Feb 3, 2017 @ 5:21am
its intimidating to farm with ascetics for the first time, but once you try it you will realize that the enemies are not that much different in higher NG (you can handle them), and its much less tedious than farming by RNG.

A lot shorter too XD
Yeah no worries guys, not my first playthrough, if we count cracked version it would hit almost 900h so I'm good with enemy difficulty. It's just that i've never really used boss weapons until now. Thanks a bunch, so the DLC, that is...
