Ring of Thorns
What's up. I just got DS II, so I'm a bit of a noob, although I did play Dark Souls III first (i know it's easier and "I'm not a tru souls fan if I didn't play the other games first nyeeeeeee", just chill). I just got the Ring of Thorns, and after testing on some enemies, it doesn't seem to do what it says. Is it PvP only? Does it only work against humanoid enemies? It has no effect on the rats in Majula, and I haven't seen it do much while exploring either. Any help?

I think you need more dmg to trigger the effekt. But i remember the ring being pretty useless, the dmg isnt anything usefull most of the time.

The base version isn't much good. It's only like 30% probability of shooting the counter attack?

The upgraded version is much better, but I probably still wouldn't use it for pve.

It says it does counter attacks specifically, so maybe I need to be hit multiple times in succession for the ring to trigger. Or, like you said, I'm just not taking enough damage.

Yeah, 30% rate on base version. It's def not a great ring, but it's something to fill up a ring slot early-game at least. The only other ring I have on right now is the Blue Crest ring for the Way of Blue, I haven't come across any other rings yet (to be expected ofc, not very far in).

That fact that your relying on this ring just shows how bad you are at this game. Go back to Daycare souls 3

cmon its in the game and its not rly good. Just someone asking a question.

The damage on the ring of thorns is pretty bad on all levels, its clone (The Sun Ring) as well. The only real purpose I can see them having is to maybe stagger someone while you yourself is being stunlocked.

Jesus Christ, Batman. He's played the game for 5 hours. Of course he doesn't know how good or bad the ring is.

might be good with a heavy defense build. Lots of health and physical defense and quick attack weapon to chip away at health.

use if for pvp only

"Relying". I don't know if this is sarcasm and I don't care, that's just a dumb thing to say under any circumstance. So, I'm relying on a ring that I didn't get until I was three hours into the game? How did I get to it, then? And when did I ever even say I relied on it? I just want the thing to DO something, especially if it's gonna take up a ring slot.

Also, you're*

Just check the wiki and try it for yourself. I myself have never found a use for it or the Sun Ring.

Its not a good ring, Ring of Blades, the stamina ring and anything that gives some base stats is better.
