How the hell do I swing on flowers!?

This game has terrible instructions. I have the leash, there are pink flowers right in front of me. I'm flopping all over the place hitting every button. I just need someone to explain the basic controls. It's no where in the game or the internet. Please, someone just tell me how to swing from the flowers.

Firstly you have to collect the so called 'Sootling' - there is a quest in that frozen part of the map (sorry don't remember exact place). These scootlings helps you to catch the flower - when jumping or falling down nearby the flower, this scootling on a leash catches the flower, then you hit and hold one of the buttons controlling the flippers (usually shift button) and when sucessfull, you'll start with the swings around the flower. Then when you release the flipper key, you'll continue in the tanget trajectory..

Thank you. The leash description says you can use it to swing on flowers, with no mention of needing to find this sootling. I got the sootling and it works fine. Just a poor menu description.

the leash itselfs describtion is just: This old leash identifies you as a friend of the sootlings. nothing about to use it with the flowers. i actually was suprised what it does when i first played and got the sootling on it :D
