Or is it a one purchase, own it forever type deal?

basically when I undock the preview window, much like the older versions it expands on the second monitor, what doesn't seem to be normal though is the play/seek bar for said window is instead of at the bottom of the window is halfway up the window covering the video being displayed and flashing through it over and over... I can use the dual preview option, but the fact that I can't have a larger play bar is really troubling... any idea what could cause this?...
