Have a nice day
In windows 10 right click on the windows speaker icon in the icon tray on the bottom right corner of your task bar, select "Sounds". On the playback tab go to the Default Device, right click on it and choose configure speakers. Next choose 5.1 Surround. Then click Next a few times and Finish.
Mine was set at 7.1 and the game doesn't work with 7.1.
I only tested 5.1 but would presume that choosing Quadraphonic and Stereo would work too. Game sound ran flawlessly at the 5.1 setting but is horrific and sometimes has no sound with the 7.1 setting.
Let me know if you had success.
I use a Creative SB X-Fi card
Initially I was getting terrible quality sound static over the audio.
And this is through my 2 speaker laptop speakers so no surround sound there to disable,
Then on starting the game I got no sound after the intro audio before the game play.
As with many others it just cuts out to no sound once the game shows you in the car.
I tried all the fixed posted for disabling sound devices and even tried disabling all other audio in Device Manager. Tried setting 16bit audio, Tried all the suggested API and config edits in audio.scr, marking it read only (as the game seems to override the file)
Even tried configs from other Chrome games that have similar sounding sound issues but no luck.
At one point I was able to get the menu audio to be clear intermittently on a booting up the game but still no sound in game (not sure what combo of tweaks that was).
Then the game stopped having sound in even the menus, Tried going back to default sound config and revalidating files, rebooting, but couldn't get back to even static in the menus.
(no other audio issues in windows)
So just to see what happens I connected my cheap Bluetooth headphones and you know what the game runs perfect sound through them even in game.
So if any one else has audio issues that none of the settings/tweaks are resolving try a pair of basic cheap Bluetooth headphones. Mine appear as "RAW Lounge Stereo" with 2 CH, 16bit, 44100Hz
Hope that helps someone else just trying to complete some games in their collection
