DEVELOPER != PUBLISHER
Y'all complaining really don't understand that DEVELOPER (Pugstorm) does NOT equate to Publisher (Chucklefish) and it shows.

Anyways, I actually have more hours in Starbound than Terraria so I'm excited as hell either way.

gamers are kinda not super smart like just in general
so dont expect them to know that lol

There's a reason why Chucklefish is the only one promoting Kyora on their official site, whereas Pugstorm isn't. The game looks like Starbound but with current gen graphics. Take a look at the rabbit game Pugstorm released a couple years ago, it has the same style of Core Keeper and it was also published by Fireshine Games. Why the sudden change of plublisher for Kyora?

https://pugstorm.eu

P.S. As of today Dec 13th 2024, there's ZERO Kyora promotion on the site of the studio, that is supposed be the working and creating the game.

It's literally the publishers job to promote the game.

This developer is as bad as the publisher.
It's a very toxic match sadly, look at core keepr - they won't do better.

Chucklefish is probably the worst choice for a publisher this dev could have teamed up with.

I don't think it's necessarily to do anything with being a gamer, it's that being a gamer is something that people of almost all ages can be, and I wouldn't necessarily expect kids or people who do not look into the intrinsics of things like dialogue, debate, or logical fallacies to perfectly represent any group of people, gamers included. Though yeah, I personally think the crying about Chucklefish isn't warranted. They made an ethical error in the creation of Starbound and a bunch of people think they should die as a company as a result, rather than learn from their mistakes and do better. It's impotent rage

Yes i don't understand what's so hard to understand that Publisher =/= Developer.

I also do not understand the hate for Starbound it is still a great game despite everything and i'm clearly not the only one who thinks that.

Remember Publishers can also tamper and break things. Better to err on the side of caution.

Meh this mostly happens with big publishers.

Those who publish the so called AAA games who get their grubby money hungry fingers in the game developement with aggresive deadlines and unrealistic demands.

I gave up trying to clarify to that. Most gamers are unable to read, or know what the difference between the words PUBLISHER and DEVELOPER.

I know VERY well. I've also seen all sorts of executive tampering from publisher-side screw things up.

starbound was great in beta (coala version) and later after premiere was unpleyable game when you MUST do some quest and game force you to do it. sandbox in space was DESTROYED! i do not trust chucklefish anymore from this time

If you found out about the game after it's final release that's understandable. You had to be there when Tiy first posted the game's first demo videos on youtube to understand how much hype there was around Starbound and how big of a disappointment it turned out to be with every idea that was either scrapped or underdelivered. Not to mention how horribly optimized the game is.

So i guess it's like similar situation as with 7 Days to Die (other sandbox game i greatly enjoyed)

People don't hate the game for what it is but for what it could have been.

Yes, Chucklefish is the publisher... As in they are in charge...
Sure, the developer codes the game, but they are not in charge of what to make.
The publisher chooses whether a game dies or lives, and Chucklefish does not have a good record.
