In this thread we see a textbook example of "just asking questions"
There has been has some people poking the hornets nest in bad fashion, but also some people wanting to change for the good. Sseth showed such a minor topic easily caused such a split in a community because peoples opinions about the Putus can be ridiculous and somehow equate to how one thinks irl,, which i think needs to change.
The devs are also not helping with this by things like
I wonder why they are so frequently pushed out of peaceful communities....
The issue most people are complaining about is the discord. The Caves of Qud discord even at a cursory glance comes off as very tumblr'y. Compare this to Sseth's very /v/ styled subscribers - and some minor conflicts were bound to occur, despite Sseth saying "just ignore the discord" in his review.
As the developer noted though, it's a very small number of people conflicting. There's 600,000 people who watched that review, yet we've only seen like a dozen threads in the steam discussions complaining about the discord.
Edit: today I learned abbreviating "'C'aves 'o'f 'Q'ud" autodetects as a swear word. Perhaps because it reads like slang for a male chicken?
You can spew your dumb opinions in almost any other community throughout gaming without getting censored.
Whoever put that nerd in charge of the discord to boot him is reflective towards those who officially promote and develop the game.
I'm an official moderator of this community so it's literally my responsibity to make those judgements.
Consider the differences between me saying:
"You are an alt-right trolls making bad faith posts on many communities."
And
"I've heard (from source unspecified) that you're an alt-right troll making bad faith posts in many commuinities, is this true? Is that a nice thing to do? Is this the result of nazi youtube brainwashing?"
One is a declaration I clearly have responsibility for, the other is a way to broadcast a ton of spurious claims with plausible deniability that I'm the actual source of the claims.
It's reasonably easy to spot when you know what you're seeing.
inb4 they switch to insults and/or swap topics entirely.
