Disabling the scroll wheel - why is this so hard
So I'm reading through Nekopara in japanese with a text hooker to get the text and then a pop-up dictionary with which I can highlight any word I don't know and see the meaning. The thing is, when I want to scroll down to see more of the meaning I also have Nekopara selected, and so I end up scrolling through some pieces of text.
The solution to this is quite simple, disabling the scroll wheel for the app. The thing is, no key remapper manages to disable the scroll wheel, weirdly enough. I had problems with the voice line audio before, which wasn't playing through certain audio inputs, and the solution was to enable and disable a setting in the spatial sound for some reason, so I've already seen how odd the game's framework is.
Now, if you try it for yourself you will see key remappers can even disable left click for example, but for some reason the scroll wheel always works, no matter what you remap it to. I'm not very familiar with key remappers and how they work, but I imagine the input of the scroll wheel is being changed to something the game recognizes as the action to continue or go back before the key remapper actually gets to changing the scroll wheel input into whatever you have set. A key remapper that just completely changes the input from the get-go would probably work, but none of the ones I've tried seem to work like that, because the input of the scroll wheel is still interpreted as the action to continue or go back, no matter what I remap it to or if I disable it. It would also have to be application specific, because I don't want to disable my scroll wheel for my browser in which my pop up dictionary resides.
If anyone has a solution to this or at least some info or ideas on how this might work, I'd appreciate it. This would probably be a very easy problem to solve if I were more familiar with the framework VNs like Nekopara use, but I really don't know what is going on for the scroll wheel input to always be recognized even after remapping it, so if someone has knowledge of this it might just be what I need.

I don't have a solution, but if it helps, the Nekopara VNs all use the Kirikiri Z engine (except Vol. 3: they experimented with using CatSystem2, but I guess they didn't like it, because they switched back). I'm assuming this issue is mostly due to the engine. You can also find all VN releases that are known to use Kirikiri[vndb.org] on VNDB, if you want to check others you have a copy of (might want to filter those results more, though).
