Text color issue Ubuntu
Not sure what happened, but I'm on Ubuntu 18.4 and after a system update (at least that's what I'm assuming did it) the text in the game turned a super light, unreadable color. I've reinstalled the game and checked all the settings. None of my other games are affected. Anyone else having this issue and any idea on how to fix it?

Same issue on Arch. If I had to guess, compositing might have something to do with it. Or fontconfig being weird.

I have the same issue on my machines. Tested on Linux Mint 19.1 Cinnamon (desktop) and on my Asus Zenbook running Ubuntu Mate 18.04.

Same issue here on Manjaro (an Arch derivative). I'm using Gnome fro what it's worth.

My menu texts are strongly dimmed to the point I can barely read it. Plus terrible performance as mentioned by others in another thread. Fedora WS 31

It might be something with noteye, because I noticed the issue only happens intermittently and sometimes seems to fix itself after I close the game and open another game then try ADOM again.

I should also post my specs:
GPU NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB
Driver: 440.36
CPU Ryzen 3600x
Kernel: 5.4.2 (Arch)

Also tested on my laptop running Debian Buster with both the Intel GMA and NVIDIA 820M. Happens less often there.

I think I kind of fixed it by rolling back to proton 3.7:
click on "manage" (the engine logo at the game's page on steam)
then choose "properties..."
check the last item (Force the use of...)
I've chosen 3.7 and it is running slow but now i can read the menus,
IDK if it works on other Proton versions

I've been using the native binary, fella.

Funny enough, playing ADOM with the latest Proton version solved the text and performance issues for me.

Can confirm the text part.
IMHO the performance dropped a bit. But still playable.

Just writing here to bump this thread up. Unreadable on Fedora32, installed via Steam :(

Same issue for me. Found out that when I do shift + tab - text brightness gets to normal level again!

The same issue on Ubuntu 20.04.

I set up the latest version of Proton for the game and it helped me.
