I am concerned that it will eventually take a really long time to load my game, eventually!
Rob
That said, you won't be able to reduce the save file size by much, since it still contains information about all dungeon maps you visited (except the ID), all monsters on these maps, and more. You're talking about things like spending 10 minutes to make loading times perhaps 1% faster, do you really think that's worth spending the time?
If you don't mind, please let me share an observation with you.
You've been playing the game for several days now, and it seems that you still haven't progressed beyond the early stages. You keep worrying about things that have zero relevance for the stage of the game you're in, and often don't have much relevance at all. About 75% of your questions lately are about things that might be of some theoretical interest, but that no one needs to know to play the game successfully - overcharging wands, restocking the black market, save file size, maximum possible stats, etc. I think you are blocking yourself. You are progressing very slowly because you keep wasting time with unimportant or meaningless stuff.
I don't want to discourage you from asking questions, because ADOM _is_ a difficult game and it doesn't really make clear what's important and what isn't. But I wonder if you're actually enjoying the game if you spend so much time worrying about minutiae; you seem to get lost in them.
You seem to be able to process a lot of information, but appear to have trouble determining what's important and what's not worth thinking about. Personally, I would certainly have more fun just playing the game. But it's your game and thus your choice, of course. I'm simply trying to offer advice, as usual. ;)
It's about as useful as trying to wing fights without leaving too many blood spots in graphical mode (that's also data ;-) ).
And I can ensure you that the main factor in game loading times (which you only will notice during auto-save and when first starting or finally leaving the game) is the number of dungeon levels explored. Thus dwarves all other factors and you can't optimize that much.
