Menu/interface improvement suggestions/feedback.
This isn't necessarily aimed at adding in new options (albeit that may help), but instead to discuss improvements to this part of the interface as the game develops.

The first thing that springs to mind is a better distinction between Video and Effects Settings, as I keep going to Video expecting to see what's found in Effects. Generally speaking I think simply moving Texture Quality over to Effects and renaming both of these menus would be a change for the better.

Display and Video or something to that effect seems more fitting given Video currently contains more options related to Display details than Effects, whereas Effects contains more options related to what's in motion meaning Video seems more sensible.

Adding to this: having some tooltips upon hovering/selecting each option to clarify what these effects mean in relation to the game would be great. I know what many of these mean, and I know anyone can Google these, but how they're used in particular with each game can differ.

Another great little option to toss in somewhere would be an optional framerate indicator so we can gauge the performance of the game with different options tweaks, and at least during Early Access, help report how optimizations are (or aren't) affecting various hardware configurations.

Anywho, really enjoying the game so far, but these are some minor notes I decided to toss together as I was messing with these options. If anyone else has anything else to add, I think (hope) the devs would probably like to see it too!

Some others although not exactly settings menu but menus nonetheless :

1) include names of props like other objects have when you hover over.

2) add a save and quit to desktop in game as many people seem confused to exit process through options menu at main menu.

They need to make it clearer what item/prop is equiped and how to unequip them.

I'd also say having the three standard options: save, save + quit to title, save + quit to desktop would be preferable to the limited options we have now.

I think possibly adding save slots for multiple profiles could also be useful for those sharing the game with their children (as I noticed someone mention in another thread recently).

Or just a standard when you hit Esc key:
1- Save and go to Main Menu
2- Save and Quit
this is bare basics! no more confusion! ;)
Sometimes you just want to go out of the game, hit exit and it still takes you to the main menu and you have to fiddle, scroll until you get the exit icon. It can be very time consuming, specially when you are going in-game many times in an hour (working with LDD, doing other stuff, etc)

I can actually be of assistance there, as this function is actually built in to Steam already. In the Steam client, click on the Steam menu in the toolbar in the upper left, and then click settings. From there, go to the In-Game options tab, and on the left hand side underneath the key(s) used to bring up the Steam Overlay is an option to put an in-game FPS Counter in either the Top-Left, Top-Right, Bottom-Left or Bottom-Right areas of the screen. You can also enable High Contrast mode, which will help if you have trouble making out the counter during gameplay in certain lighting conditions.

Hope this helps. :)

I'm hoping for a hotkey bar that we can put all the weapons/utility items on to make weapon switching easy.

An arrow that points toward a little N that stands for North. (aka. compass) pretty much would be perfect.

Thanks! I already knew of this, but I thought it'd be good to have as a native option for people that don't wanna dig through Steam settings. =)
