The problem with caves
Before I started id like to say I’m not trying to bash on the game, in fact I love this game and really want to see it grow in popularity.

I don’t see the point in the addition of caves to this game. They aren’t very long or large, there’s nothing to do inside of them. The caves are interesting to look at for a short time but after exploring them they never lead anywhere or offer a change in scenery.
The addition of caves to me seems like a knock off of Minecraft. In Minecraft, caves are fun to explore because there are resources to gain for your efforts, and risks if you aren’t carful. But in Lego worlds, caves don’t seem to offer anything other than a short change in scenery and unless there’s enough room in them for me to build something cool I don’t really care that they exist. I hope that I’m wrong and the addition of caves isn’t just an inspiration from Minecraft, because I love this game and think it could be so much better than Minecraft, but to do that it needs to expand on its own ideas, not Minecraft’s.

I found big chests in caves, does that count? :)

I have to agree with you NecroAscendant.
I was really, really disapointed with caves :(

I though I would find bats, and scary spiders at least (maybe caves worms, or caves trolls ! Who know what live there ?!) But no... Same stuff as the surface.

Yeah I found some chests... But surface is beautifull, and caves are just holes disfiguring my beautiful landscape atm :(

we can only hope that the caves will be populated, I bet they will as time is our friend in the development process for the team (as they got a staff who makes the creatures and their animations/sounds!) and please don't forget birds and butterflies for the land above ;D

I jumped into the game after reading this to check out the caves myself. From what I have encountered there isn't very much to look at while down there. Seems like a "Phase 1" step towards proper cave systems which is what I hope. This would mean they will improve the caves.

Can a Dev confirm that there will be further improvements towards the cave systems?

oh and dear devs, just a little light, well I don't want to reveal any spoiler, but maybe you guys could create resources that you could dig in the wall (gold bricks!!! diamond bricks) ;D - and maybe we got to be careful not to use the bazooka or else the gold is lost depending on the damage level and use the pic axe instead... that would give the pic axe a use and maybe you could give the pic axe more destruction power (just a tiny bit more maybe)
now imagine if you needed the wheel barrow to transport the gold out of the cave and then dump the gold outside... After that you'd have to come with the articulated digger, pick up the gold and put it on the articulated truck to drive it off!
This would give each vehicle a sure necessity! :)

I'm fine with the current cave system. I've found my first Articulated Truck in a cave, along with a few characters that I had previously not met.

The current caves are indeed step #1 of a multi-step process.

Step #2 Young master Bruce falls down a well and discovers the caves below Wayne Manor

Step #3 In this universe Gotham isn't built yet so Bruce gets bored and decides to go on a journey to the center of the Earth

Step #4 Morlocks

The caves are bad and were a complete waste of coding time when it could have been used elsewhere on building items.
