What does this mean?
You know those legendary pieces that when you put them together, they make a QR like image, well I used a QR reading app and it did read one after I flattened it and it gave me this code, "x12y34z56", I tried typing it in the "type code" section and nothing happened. Can someone explain to me what these QR things in the game do?

Xyz seems more like a Co-ordinate.
Either that or it is a placeholder code until the real thing is implimented.

Those are world coordinates. Type those in on the galaxy map then click the magnifying glass to find that world. Then, travel to those same coordinates once in the world and, if done right, you should a "big" surprise.

Indeed, coords for the galaxymap and as being said use those coords on the specific map aswell you can see where you are if you open the profiler.
Also note this, when you type in that code in the galaxy map, the last letter would be an X in the separate box.
The Y is up or down, so you should focus on the otherones first, at a certain moment you know where to go and how high or low you need to be.

Even when i knew what to do, i found it still quite some searching whatsover so i hope this will help you a little bit.
