Sea creatures

Are the sea creatures possible to scan with the discovery tool? I can't equip it under water and and it doesn't seem to work from the land. Does anyone know how to do it?

You can equip tools underwater by standing on the bottom, which is limited to certain costumes. AFAIK these are Deep Sea Diver, Scuba (probably), Skeletons, Zombies and Trolls.

It would probably help new players if they added a 'trying to land but too buoyant' animation to suggest that it's possible, but they're missing something.

Oh, thank you. I will look for them then. It will also help with the underwater treasure chests because they are hard to get while swimming.

You also need to feed some animals before scanning them.

The easiest way is just to flatten the ocean to land level, bringing up all the fish and sea creatures that eat fish. That way you grab both the creatures and the food needed to unlock them.

1) Jump in the water
2) Ride the animal
3) Bring them up onto the land
4) Some need to be fed
5) Scan them while on the land
