Cant build and really confused
So the scientists want me to build them somewhere to rest ive found the field lab model but i cant actually build it for them. I open the discovery tool select the model which costs 2500 blue studs it charges me for it then when i select the model so i can pace it in the world it just highlights it with a red square like im not allowed to place it yet if thats the case why arent i told this? Im having the exact same problem with the fisherman azwell he wants me to build a shed i found the model but again i cant build it, And why does it show me where to place the shed but not were to place the field lab for the scientists it makes no sense to me is this a bug?

Also whats with the different colored studs i have a lot of silver studs but im seeing a stud price on somethings some are blue some are gold is there a reason for that? how do i know how many of each color i have.

I have the same question about the studs....

But as for placing buildings, i had the same issue. I flattened out a area and it allowed me to place it.

The studs are universal, it is only that certain colors give more (silver is lowest, then moves up to gold, blue, purple). Think of it like US coins to dollars. You can have ten pennies, two dimes, and four quarters and you have $1.30. Now if you had just 130 pennies it would be the same thing.

That's how the studs work. You get whatever color it just adds to your total pool. As for why they show different colored studs when you go to buy, I guess that is just to show you how expensive things are. Purple characters and such are the high priced ones. But so long as you have a higher amount of studs shown, you can buy it all the same.

As for the quests, there are a handful that have specific places they want something (like a dino fossil), but many times it is free form, meaning you only have to have the NPC with you nearby and plop it down. You can put it just about anywhere.

Studs ate the LEGO currency and come in three different values:
silver studs are worth 10 units
gold studs are 100
blue studs are 1000
purple studs are 10,000

the price to unlock the model has a blue stud because it costs over 1000 studs to buy.

I'm not sure about the question about the placement - I would think that you wouldn't be able to choose the model with the discovery tool without having paid to unlock it first. maybe the area you want to place it in is somehow unsuitable? I haven't gotten far enough to try myself. If i figet there and figure it out, i'll let you know
Cheers for the help everyone i also solved the building problem i chased a troublemaker and he dropped a brick and i guess it was required for the model because it said i unlocked loads of stuff but it went off screen before i got chance to read what id actually unlocked. Anyways i went back to try placing the models again and it let me do it for the fisherman and the scientists.

Where do you find the field lab model you need for the scientist? I've got 2 gold bricks off the troublemaker but no model for the required house. Tips welcome, please!!!

I don't know if it is set in stone, but tend to find them in the treasure chests in that world. Just see if you see the gold glow showing one nearby and try digging to it / finding it and you're likely to get it.

Ah ok, thanks, haven't found it in a chest yet, but will keep looking :)

another thing I've noticed (in gameplay videos since i haven't gotten that far yet) is that many treasure chests look different than the standard wooden model we grew accustomed to in Early Access - some look like they're made of metal i think (sorry if this is old news to you)

It's true. I have found several gold coloured chests and they always have at least one Purple stud.

Yep, they do look different. Anyway, found three, the lab was in the first one, not sure what I got from the second, but can't open the third :( (the E doesn't show up). Thanks for the tip, much appreciated. Still have dungeons left to explore!!!

Think I'm in DX11, I've been reading elsewhere that the ground around them needs to be flat, so going to try that in a bit. Thanks again for the help, much appreciated.
thats not true ive opened loads that werent on flat ground i think the front and top of it just has to be clear.

tip: use the terrain tools to find chests quickly they show up on the map so just position your character over one then use the landscape tool to remove everything until you get to the chest. I got an unreal amount of gold bricks and quests boxed off this way.
